Dwyane Wade leads Miami to sixth consecutive win
The Miami Heat returned home after a couple weeks on the road and continued their run of extremely impressive basketball, dispatching the Orlando Magic 90-78. The game wasn't as close as the score would indicate, as the Heat kept Orlando in check from downtown, holding the Magic to a mediocre 37.9% shooting from beyond the arc.
Dwyane Wade led the way for the Heat, scoring 27-points on 13-of-23 shooting, which includes 12 points in the games first 7 minutes. That fueled Miami to a quick 22-11 lead, sending them to their 6th consecutive win, all by double digits. Orlando responded to the Heat's quick start by scoring 13 point in a row, and a triple by Ryan Anderson would give them what would end up being their largest lead of the game at 27-24.
That would be the high point of the game for the Magic, who would then go over seven minutes without scoring, missing 11 straight shots and 14 of 15. The Heat held Orlando to just 12 points in the 2nd quarter and took a nice 43-31 lead into the break. The Magic tried making a run in the 3rd quarter, but Miami pulled away in the final minutes, led by a Shane Battier triple and a Udonis Haslem jumper with 1.8 seconds left. That gave the Heat a 16-point lead heading into the final 12-minutes.
The win moved Miami into first place in the Eastern Conference, a half-game ahead of the idle Chicago Bulls. Even though the Heat are playing some of their best basketball of the season, they insist that their best is yet to come. LeBron James came just two assists shy of a triple double, finishing with 25-points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists.
GAME NOTES
- Miami's 12-point win was their smallest margin of victory during their current 6-game win streak.
- Dwyane Wade made 13-of-23 from the field, his 10th straight game shooting 50% or better.
- Wade had a great all-around night, adding 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocked shots.
- Chris Bosh was held to 8 points and 9 rebounds.
- Joel Anthony was the unsung hero for the Heat, playing great, aggressive defense against Dwight Howard.
- Udonis Haslem scored 10 points off the bench, though he picked up ‘just' 5 rebounds.
- Mike Miller celebrated his 32nd birthday with 5 points and 6 boards.
The Heat now get a nice day off in their hometown before hosting the 10-21 Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night at the AAA.

Great defense for the most part throughout the game...

If we keep this up, we have nothing to worry about.
I know everyone is worried about Lin, but he’s making the mistakes that’s supposed to fuel our offense: TURNOVERS. He’s routinely making around 6 TO’s per game since his breakout. And with the Heat’s perimeter D, (personally, I’d put Wade on him, or if not, I’d settle for Chalmers’ uncanny ability to steal the ball) we should have no trouble scoring more or less 20 fast break points off of just Lin’s TO’s. Heat just need to capitalize. So everyone calm to f*** down. Wade’s got this.
But before the Knicks, let’s not forget, we still have to face the Kings. They lost to the Bulls and because of that, Spo isn’t gonna be the coach of the East All-Stars. That’s my motivation for wanting to beat the Kings. At his best, Tyreke can be a Wade Lite. Or at least as good as Roy. Cousins is playing at star level. Given that, we should NEVER take any team lightly. Tyreke and Cousins have bright futures ahead, but Heat need to put youngsters in their place.
OH! Those are really cool! (OH! Those are really cool!)
I can't wait to see what kind of shoes Michael Beasley wears! (I can't wait to see what kind of shoes Michael Beasley wears!)
OH! I love Michael Beasley's hair! (I can't wait to see Michael Beasley play defense!)
Good point on Tyreke
He is the one player in the League right now that reminds me most of D-Wade.

Great win--6 in a row--all double-digit wins!
but I did see a few things that worry me. I know the defensive philosophy is to “build a wall” around the basket and if a team can beat you from the 3-point line, so be it. While I do agree with that philosophy, I think you must approach Orlando differently. They are the only team in the League that plays a single-post offense and surrounds that guy (Howard) with four 3-point shooters. Fortunately, Redick was the only one who was really dialed in. The one guy you CANNOT leave open is Ryan Anderson, and he KEPT getting open looks. Again, fortunately, he didn’t make enough to hurt us, and sure we had a lead, but it could have gone differently—especially because we had a drought of our own in the 4th due to turnovers and bad shots (early in the shot clock).
I think against Orlando, you single-cover Howard, and if he gets 50, you live with it. You keep Jameer Nelson out of the lane, and no one else gets open shots. Against the other 28 teams, we can live by our normal principles.
Again, we came up with a couple of buckets late to seal the deal, but I just got a little antsy when the Magic cut the lead to 12. Then, Spo put Bron back in the game, and all was well that ended well.
