Welcome home Miami! Some gameday notes before today’s Heat-Magic matinee
Some pre-game notes leading up to today's Orlando Magic-Miami Heat game:
Coming into today, Orlando is 12-1 this season when making 11 or more three-pointers, but are just 8-10 when making 10 or less from downtown. In case you were wondering, they made 17 in their win over Miami on February 8th.
In his last five 4th quarters, LeBron James has played a total of 9 minutes. Dwyane Wade has played a total of 11:18 in his last five 4th quarters, including three in which he did not play at all.
Since returning from injury in late January, Wade has scored at least 20 points in 11 of his 13 games. He's averaging 23.4 points while shooting an impressive 53.3% from the field. He has added 4.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.3 steals.
Following his four 3-pointers on Friday, Mario Chalmers is now shooting 47.3% from downtown. He is also shooting an amazing 51.8% from the field, 2nd among guards to only Steve Nash's ridiculous 55.1%. Third on that list is Miami's Dwyane Wade, who is making 49.3% of his field goals.
Getting back to triples, this game features the leagues top 3-point maker in Orlando' Ryan Anderson. He has dropped in a whopping 91, which is 24 more then the next highest total (Deron Williams' 67).
Mario Chalmers is 4th in the NBA with his 47.3% 3-point shooting, and Mike Miller is 2nd in the league at 53.1%.
An interesting note is that despite his limited playing time, James Jones is still having a solid year with his 3-point shooting, hitting 42.9% from downtown. He has taken the same amount of triples (49) as Mike Miller, though Jones has appeared in six more games.
LeBron James has been shooting equally well amongst forwards in the league. James is shooting 54.6% from the field, leading all NBA forwards including Blake Griffin and Carlos Boozer, tied right behind LeBron making 53.2% of their shots.
Officials for today's game are Rodney Mott, Bill Kennedy and Mark Lindsay.
