Miami Heat reportedly interested in former Jazz center Kyrylo Fesenko

LOS ANGELES, CA - MAY 04: Kyrylo Fesenko of the Utah Jazz dunks the ball in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Lakers during Game Two of the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2010 NBA Playoffs. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)

There are reports that the Miami Heat are one of four teams interesting in signing free agent center Kyrylo Fesenko, who most recently played with the Utah Jazz. The 7'1" Ukrainian is an unrestricted free agent who played four seasons for the Jazz, averaging 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game. He is a career 49.8% shooter from the field and has played in 132 games, though he has only started in 7.

Star-divide

Fesenko has been in Denver rehabbing an injured left knee. He tore the meniscus in his knee while playing for the Ukranian National team in the Eurobasket Tournament last fall. It couldn't have come at a worst time, as any free agent will tell you. Still, once he is back in playing shape, Fesenko could be a solid addition to any teams rotation coming off the bench.

His agent has been quoted as saying that Fesenko is "fine now" and that "he's ready to go," so we'll see how quickly he is picked up by someone. Other then Miami, there are reportedly three other teams showing interest in the big guy. The Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks are all looking into the center. Milwaukee and Atlanta are both in need of a big guy as they lost Andrew Bogut and Al Horford, respectively.

We have big bodies, but their conditioning is not up to par

If Fesenko can run, I wouldn’t oppose cutting someone for him. His prorated Defensive stats are actually fantastic

Yeah, I agree, he can't see how he can be any worse than Curry--tbf, Curry has looked like he has gotten in better shape...

and is working hard, but I just don’t see him contributing. I know Pat likes him and all, but if this guy (who is young—26, seven foot and 280lbs) can move around some and defend and get some boards, then sign him up and cut Curry.

Mjtig hit it right on the nail

HE CAN’T BE ANY WORSE THAN CURRY. With that being said what’s the scouting report on this guy?

As long as we're still signing Kaman if the Hornets buy him out, then I'm in.

I don’t want this to be just like “We have Curry now. No need to sign Dalembert.” I’m still kinda bitter about that :(

OH! Those are really cool! (OH! Those are really cool!)

Fesenko looked good

in limited minutes last season. He would be a good pick up, but I suspect one of those other teams that is interested will be able to pay him more, and he is young, so I would expect him to follow the money at this point in his career.

good point

"It seemed that Brandon's financial manager had speculated in some kind of futures and lost everything...Mary could not rid her mind of the word "speculate." It meant to guess, in terms of money to gamble. How could a man gamble a college?"

It doesnt matter who we sign, they will not get any minutes!

Joel Anthony is the man, but I believe we already have next years starter on the team. Pittman was getting a bigger role before he hurt his shoulder and i like what he can do. He has a soft touch around the rim and can move well for a big guy

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Whew, sorry about that, what were you saying?

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

how much of the mini mle do you guys have left

you guys are way over the tax by 7 million already, which means you are paying 1.75 per dollar this season. Can the heat win a bidding war? Even if you do, that gets you even closer to the 10 million over luxtax mark, which you wont hit this year, but will hit next year for certain if you sign fasenko for anything more than a million. In which case Riley is now paying 35 million additional to the salary next year……Thats…a lot…..

Ive never seen it discussed here, but what is the stance of the heat organization and riley when it comes to these matters. Are the heat like jerry buss and seemingly made up of money, or are they more like Jerry reinsdorf and more interested in smart investments….?
