Mario Chalmers to join James Jones in All-Star 3-point competition

Moneyball!

Earlier this week we debated whether or not Mario Chalmers should be chosen to participate in next weekends All-Star 3-point Shootout. It didn't take long to get the answer, as the NBA announced earlier today that Chalmers and Miami teammate James Jones would represent the Heat in the annual shooting contest.

Jones got an automatic bid to the competition because he is the defending champion, having won the even at last seasons All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. Chalmers meanwhile is having the best shooting season of his career and is one of the league leaders in 3-pointers made.

Star-divide

Other participants in the event are Orlando Magic forward Ryan Anderson, Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson, New Jersey Nets guard Anthony Morrow and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love. Of those shooting, Mario Chalmers has the highest 3-point percentage at 46.3% and he has the second most 3-pointers made with 57, behind Ryan Anderson's league-leading 80.

With Chalmers and Jones both in the event, that means there are five players off the Heat's 15-man roster going to All-Star Weekend. Besides Jones, other Miami players to win the event have been Daequan Cook, Jason Kapono (twice) and Glen Rice.

I was really surprised they both got picked. Good for both of them. I’m gonna pick James Jones out of this pack. Joe Johnson will get the lowest score, GauranSheed.

Can light it up...

and a great athlete but was prone to chuckin a lot of threes and not playing in the flow of the offense in Denver. Most likely a good pickup for the second unit for scoring. The Knicks looked really good on offense against the Kings. Lin of course, but Fields and the others were attacking the rim also.

The knicks will have the offensive power to match anynone in the league if they get JR. The key is

can they put it together in time for the playoffs. Their defense has improved, though not on the heat’s level. and if Lin is the glue guy, the Knicks maybe the team no one wants to play come playoff time!

With Lin locking down the PG spot, their only glaring weakness is their bench! They have nothing coming off the bench!

We're gonna have to play either the Knicks or clerics first round

Not fun..

Rio & JJ will be in the finals for the 3 point shoot out.
As for the knicks acquring J.R Smith….all that offense and no defense still equals failure!
They only have us with the center position, Chalmers and Cole can guard Lin.
Wade plays D,Bron and Bosh too, Melo & Stat play no D.

.Heat Tri-nasty is inevitable!

I like Rio to win it

Joe Johnson has a shot, and I’ll give JJ a puncher’s chance as the defending champ. The other guys are more catch-and-shoot shooters, which I don’t think bodes well for shooting off a rack. Rio is also rather cocky, which I think does help him in this competition.
