Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

A glimpse into the future.

Delorean_682_1312995a_medium

Gosh, it's a slow day today. As a result :

Guys, you won't believe this, but I'm from the future and I've seen what's in store for the Heat. I went a few months into the future, July, actually, and I came back to let you all know that we have a bright future to look forward to.

Star-divide

(Late June, 2012)

Fresh off winning an NBA championship against the Oklahoma City Thunder just a few weeks prior, the Heat appear poised to take another step into building the best team in the league.

"Dwight Howard is still in Orlando, but he seems to be spending a bit more of his time south of the area." Sources say. "He's been seen having dinner with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James 2 days ago. And just yesterday, he's been spotted having lunch with The Big Three, Coach Spo and Pat Riley himself. Could this mean something for the citizens of South Beach?"

We all know that for the Heat to get Dwight, that would mean cutting every asset they have aside from The Big Three. On a team where it's supposed to be "win now" for the stars in their primes, it appears gutting their team in exchange for the best center in the league is just what they're willing to do in order to ensure dominance in the coming years.

(July, 2012)

The Orlando Magic now have 4 roster spots open after their star center Dwight Howard opted out of his contract to test the waters of free agency.

"It's not yet a done deal, but we're getting there." Pat Riley when asked about the possibility of Dwight Howard coming to Miami.

When Dwight was asked for comments, all he said was "I was told not to say anything about it, but if you really want to know..." And then he walked out.

I went around Orlando to ask citizens what they think about Dwight leaving.

One said "It's alright if he goes to Miami as long as they do a sign and trade for LeBron James and Chris Bosh. We'll even throw in Hedo. I think that's a fair deal."

I gave up after that.

(Mid-July, 2012. Start of free agency)

It's a great day to be a Heat fan! The Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat have agreed to a sign and trade that would send Mike Miller, Shane Battier, Udonis Haslem and Mario Chalmers and some crappy picks to the Orlando Magic and superstar center Dwight Howard will be taking his talents and this overused quote from LeBron James to South Beach and join the Miami Heat.

After years of building around Dwight Howard, the Orlando Magic have plunged back into rebuilding mode. I've made no return trips to Orlando in fear of being chased by an angry mob.

(Sometime in August, 2012)

The Heat may have gutted their bench, but they made up for it by signing lots of veterans. After getting Dwight, the Heat only had 8 players under contract. Since then, they signed the ones who were better than Kobe early last decade, Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady.

"I've been given another chance to make a difference, and here I am, with probably the best team in the world and I'm not gonna screw it up." Iverson said. "I'm gonna do whatever it takes. I'm finally gonna get my ring."

"Are you gonna practice?"

"Practice? We talking about practice?"

Tracy Mcgrady, another player not known for his work ethic, laughed uncomfortably in his seat.

Feeling the need for nostalgia, 3 players also came out of retirement to get back on the Heat roster to know what it feels like to be a champion again. Jason Williams felt the Heat missed the White Chocolate, and they did, so they signed him. Antoine Walker, who helped the Heat win a championship in 2006, was called upon Pat Riley because he couldn't sign anybody else. Also, Shaq came out of retirement after having a life changing experience that caused him to swallow his pride and agree to play off the bench and to mentor Dwight Howard and show him how it's done when it comes to winning a championship in Miami.

The Heat also signed the NBA 2K12 version of Oscar Robertson and Nikoloz Tskitishvili. Both are expected to be great contributors to the team. Big O is still a triple-double machine to this day. Tskitishvili is reported to be slated for a stint as a starter some time in the middle of the season just so we can hear how announcers will say his last name.

"We just gonna go out there, play defense, get open on offense and hopefully score and win the game." Coach Erik Spoelstra when asked about his game plan for the new look Heat.

So there you have it. The best center in the league, Dwight Howard, one of the best finesse PF's, Chris Bosh, arguably the best SF in the history of the NBA, LeBron James, emerging 2nd year PG Norris Cole and the man himself, Dwyane Wade. Oh, and a couple of old guys.

This, Miami Heat fans, is what you can look forward to in just a matter of months :D

go for an android phone

cheaper, plus some of the better ones come with flash lite, which is needed for viewing sbn. I have an lg quantum, a windows phone, its fairly cheap now if you have att (like free) and it supports silverlight which allows you to view sbn in all its glory just like it was on the pc

Let Howard stay in Orlando.
We don’t need him.
The heat are after Kaman, if he is bought out we can sign him, and resign him.
Howard already said he wants to make his own path, and be the “man”.
Let his poor free throwing shooting ass stay in Magic City.

In the future?

It’ll be Cole, Wade, James, Bosh, Howard. Or maybe we can start video game Oscar Robertson at PG. Shaq might contend for a starting spot though.

But in reality, Heat’s FO are hoping that Kaman won’t be traded. The Hornets will most likely buy him out if he doesn’t get traded by the deadline. I don’t know, but I think the Hornets will still do whatever they can to trade him even for just a couple of picks. If that happens, Heat will have virtually no chance to get Kaman, unless the team that trades for him gets another valuable asset other than Kaman in return. If Kaman isn’t the center of the deal, Kaman will be bought out for sure. But I doubt if the Hornets have anything to offer alongside Kaman.

Realistically, thedeeofdees is right. Our only hope of getting a decent center is by waiting for Kaman to be bought out and then sign him. Dude’s a former All-Star. I’d like him on the team. Still, when we talk about centers, I can’t help but feel bitter about the fact that the Heat didn’t make any effort to sign Samuel Dalembert. No offense to Battier, but I think Sammy D should have been more of a priority and should have been signed first.

Chalmers-Wade-James-Bosh-Kaman. Hopefully in a month.

starting 5 for the future: Chalmers,Wade,Lebron,Bosh,Kaman

Kaman should be bought out by the March 15th deadline, then the heat will sign him.
Amnesty Joel Anthony to get him.
I like the effort of Joel but to have him start as center in the playoffs again is down right laughable!

if the hornets buy him out, its a strong possibility

then we would have the #1, 4, 5, and 6 pick of the 03 draft. I do not think we can or would amnesty Anthony, we have an empty roster spot and being that Kaman would have to be bought out, he will be willing to play for the min. So, we can get him without giving Anthony up..

I agree with you.

Although I think Juwan Howard needs to get the boot instead. Joel’s still more effective than Juwan off the bench. He’s the defensive spark. Joel would still be a better backup to Kaman than any of our centers.

He was really good when he was with the Clippers, though I don't know much about what he can still do now.

On the Clippers, as a starter, he scored some points, as high as 18.5 one season, and he also rebounded the ball pretty well. His career high is 12.5 and he still blocks over 1 a game. Even going as high as 2.8 blocks per game in his breakout season. He was also an All-Star in 2010. On the downside, he’s pretty injury prone. Only time he played 82 games was his rookie season. I know he won’t be close to duplicating any of his numbers back with the Clippers, but don’t worry. I still think he’ll be a good center for the Heat.

when healthy he is a very good all around center

right now he is averaging like 11pts 7.5rbs, and 1.5 blocks off the bench. And thats in just 22 mpg. With us, he would be around 30mpg (when healthy), making him a nightly double-double guy and a great match with Anthony’s shot-blocking. I would be really excited if we can get Kaman. Just a little while ago PG and C were huge needs for us. Now, Chalmers/Cole have PG locked up and if we can somehow get Kaman, C would be a strength as well…
