Heat take down Pacers, complete crazy part of road trip unbeaten
The Miami Heat left very little to the imagination last night at the Bakers Life Fieldhouse. The Heat jumped all over the hometown Pacers and didn't let go until it was much too late. Miami jumped out to a 17-point lead after the 1st quarter and then hold a pretty strong 68-39 advantage at the break. Miami was able to rest most of their man players down the stretch of this game, which sent Miami into a tie with Chicago for best record in the Eastern Conference.
D-Wade got his chances to make a mark on this game, and he certainly did. Wade scored 16 points, a few of which were of the highlight reel type, Then Bosh and D-Wade took their turns taking the game over. Chris Bosh was also a contributor, chipping in with 13 points, 5 boards, 7 assists, a steal and a block. He and D-Wade certainly know to find the other on the floor.
Miami is also the first club in 42 years to play each game in their ‘back-to-back-to-back' set, and then win every one, on the road, and win them all by double features. Now that, is pretty special. It was also pretty special watching LeBron James play the game we know he loves. Some of his dunks were amazing, but his all-around play on games like this is what really gets me. LeBron James finished with a solid 23 point, 9 rebound, 7 assist and 4 steal outing, coming up just short on his first triple double in almost a year.
It always helps your team to look good when your opponent looked so bad. The Pacers team we played last night was not the best they have to offer. Far from it, actually. David West led the Pacers with 14 points and Paul George added 12. Of course it's hard to recover when your leading scorer, Danny Granger, sprains his left ankle late in the first quarter and doesn't return to the game after that.
GAME NOTES
- Norris Cole scored a season-high 20 points off the bench, adding 3 more assists and as importantly, going 3-of-3 from the foul line!
- Rio had a rougher night, scoring only 4 points to go with 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
- Shane Battier added another 8 and 4 night, and I especially love the 3-for-3 from the field and the 1-for-1 from downtown. Well played, sir.
- Another 20 minutes for Udonis Haslem. Translation: 7 points, 9 rebounds, +16.
- Once the Heat got their biggest lead in the second half, the Pacers never got as close as 20 points down until the final two minutes (garbage time) of the game.
- At 23-7, this win matched the Heat's best franchise start through 30 games.
Next up, the Heat get a couple of much needed nights off before they wrap up this road trip with a stop in Cleveland. We'll see how interesting that game turns out to be....

I could get used to more of these...
Heat kicked a**. Love that Cole got 20— time for him and Bron to go back home. Rest up, Beat the Cavs!

One more road win then back to Miami for a rematch against the Magic. Give Dwight Howard a real reason to leave by embarrassing him out of the state

Oh great.

Nah. Getting Dwight? IMPOSSIBRU!!!
And it seems like whenever I feel like Wade’s gonna get that big night, it gets misread and LeBron’s the one who gets the numbers. Henceforth, I got the feeling that LeBron’s gonna have another big night offensively and defensively against the Cavs. He’s always stepping up whenever we play the Cavs. Either way, I still like how Wade’s been doing early in the game. He and LeBron are our early game heroes. Kinda removes the fun of getting nervous late in the game, only to get us excited with every play. But hey, a sure win is a great win either way :D

yeah, good sign because it means he would likely go for 30+ on those nights if we need him, but we did not and he got to rest which is so very important with this season in particular. I’m thinking the Cavs come out scrapping and I hope the Heat match their intensity, but even if the Heat are down because they are flat (hope not), they should make their move, get control and take the game. Bron had a huge game in Cleveland last year and I would think with the way he has been posting and playing going to the rim, he should have a huge game with a lot of free throws. Good days of rest for the Heat.
Yeah, no way DH comes here and I like the big 3 and how they have been functioning this year so I would not even want to mess that up to get DH (even if it were possible which it is not) and lose Bosh for sure although Bron, Wade, and DH on the same team would be unreal. DH needs to wait till his contract is up, do a decision special, take his talents to SB on the cheap to play with his friends CB, DW, and LBJ—OK, don’t wake me from my dream lol.

Mind if I join you in dreaming?
And we can get Howard without giving up Bosh. It would involve gutting our bench. Dwight and the Magic will agree to a sign and trade. Dwight will be getting a max contract and he’ll be traded for the contracts of a still-good-on-defense Battier, a great role player and defensive spark Haslem, a reliable 3 point shooter in Miller and a young, championship caliber starting PG in Chalmers. Orlando will finally go into rebuilding mode and wait for the contracts to run out and build with picks. Dwight will then join Bosh, LBJ and Wade along with emerging young PG Norris Cole to form the most formidable starting lineup in the league.

nice dream, what a line up but in my dream DH signs for a lot less than he normally would...
has a great attitude about not having to be the man and focuses on playing defense and rebounding and getting put backs (not worried about how many touches he will get be he will get enough) and we get to keep guys like Miller and Haslem and Rio….don’t wake me, lol

Linsanity in south beach?
I hope our Heat will be ready (I can’t see how they will not be) to play lock down D. Lin had eight turnovers against a bad Raptor team and he has been getting six a night for the most part. Hope some other team can put the clamps down on him and them before that though. Maybe the Mavs, hopefully DWill shows why he is one of the great pg’s in the league. I like the kid but he plays for the wrong team, Linsanity must calm the f*** down if not grind to a halt.

he might but the Heat D rotates fast when they are on their game and I'm happy we have a backup like Cole and not Bibby...
hopefully the Heat can force turnovers which they can capitalize on like no other team when they are on their game and set the tone for the game of attack!!

Lin is very TO prone.
Sometimes commits about a third of his team’s TO’s in total. Averaging more than 5 TO’s during his Linsanity run so far. Heat’s defense can capitalize on that. Make him turn the ball over, get in the open court, easy points for Bron and Wade right there. I’m looking forward to Lin getting maybe a triple double in points, assists and turnovers :D And by the time the Heat face NY, Melo will be back and screw up the O. No worries guys. Th Heat’ll have Lin and the Kicks under control.

Yeah...
Finally watched a Knicks game tonight and he did have a stretch there where he played out of control, telegraphed passes, and turned the ball over—another 6 tonight.
It will be interesting to see how he plays against the Heat who should be ready to put pressure on him. Also against Philly, Boston and Chicago. Yeah, come back Melo and eff things up too ;)

Cole looked really good in garbage time
and it looks like Mr. Battier figured out that whole shooting thing, huh?

Miami Heat verses New York Knicks.
I’m a die-hard Miami Heat fan, so I’m not impressed with Lin at all. I feel that the Knicks think Lin is their savior, but he will not get them to the finals, let alone a championship. D’Antoni system is built on offense, so you have a point guard that likes to score and include his team into the mix. Lin is weak on his left side, cut his penetration and 3-point scoring, deny the 3-point shooters their opportunities, make the rest of the team beat you. Miami Heat has to continue playing DEFENSE! DEFENSE! DEFENSE! Miami Heat continue to play smart, good basketball and teams will fall by the waist side, including the Knicks. I still feel the Knicks has alot of work to do, but people don’t care or see weaknesses of a team as long as the team(s) is winning. Miami Heat will remind people why their the most hated team in the league, by ripping out the Knicks heart and that’s, taken Lin out of the equation. I would put Cole on Lin (1st quarter), see how that goes, cut off penetration to the basket, deny the 3-point shooters and manhandle them (Knicks) defensively. In the 3rd quarter Battier should also defend Lin physically (got 6 fouls, use them wisely). 4th quarter have D-Wade guard him, making sure he keeps him to his left. If you notice, the 3rd and 4th quarter is when he does his damage against teams, he has a high turnover rate as well, force him every chance his hands touches the ball. Remember! Miami Heat, use time management with your starters wisely (making sure they’re rested after every ending quarter, stick to the defensive game plan and this team (Knicks) will fall down too. Allow D-Wade and Lebron to pick who they want to dismantle offensively and defensively. Miami Heat don’t get caught up in the Lin bandwagon it’s not long term. Remember the saying," everyone will eventually get their 15 minutes of fame". Right now, Lin is on 8 minutes and counting.

Hopefully the Heat (certainly capable if they bring the D) will knock him back to Earth if some other team has not done it by then.

Good stuff, Heat.
The Heat did it again. Bosh and Anselm play big on the boards even though they did not put up huge points. I am liking the contribution of Bosh on the boards more and more than his scoring. It keeps the ball movement for the Heat offense excellent..
Keep it up Bosh and the Heat.
