Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh lead Miami Heat to win in Washington

The Miami Heat resumed their winning ways on Friday night as they entertained the packed Verizon Center in Washington D.C., beating the host Wizards 106-89. For the second straight game Dwyane Wade put on a show during the 2nd quarter. It started with a sick drive, complete with a spin move and a shot that kissed the glass. It ended 20 points later, all of which Wade either scored or assisted on.

Wade finished the game with 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting, his 7th consecutive game with at least 20 points. He and his teammates helped get the game off to a good start. The Big 3 combined to score Miami's first 16 points, and for the game they scored a total of 68 points. The game was another example of the success the Heat franchise has against the Wizards. Miami has now won five straight games and 12 of the last 13 against D.C.

Star-divide

Playing in his first game since being named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team, Chris Bosh had has best game in weeks. He cracked the 20 points plateau for the first time in 7 games, finishing with 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting. He also finished with double figure rebounds for the first time in 7 games. Bosh collected his 6th double double of the year, grabbing 11 rebounds against the Wizards.

GAME NOTES

  • Miami has won 7 consecutive games in Washington.
  • Dwyane Wade has scored at least 20 points in 8 of his 9 games played since returning from injury.
  • LeBron James scored ‘just' 18 points to go along with 9 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
  • Breakout game for Shane Battier, who gradually looks better and better. He finished with a season-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He hit 3-of-6 from downtown and grabbed 5 rebounds as well.
  • Battier once again led the Heat in plus/minus with a +23. Next closest player was +14 (LeBron and Norris Cole).
  • Cole showed some aggressive flashes but still gets a little too fast for his own good. He scored 8 points on 2-of-7 shooting.
  • JaVale McGee was impressive, finishing with a season-high 24 points and adding 13 rebounds.
  • Udonis Haslem grabbed 12 rebounds off the Heat bench.
  • Speaking of the Heat bench, they outscored the Wizards bench 36-15.

Miami better get as much rest as possible in the next couple days, because starting Sunday night in Atlanta the Heat will play three games in three nights.

Wizards played hard...

even came close in the third. I still think the Heat will get everyones best shot like last year. Wall was going to the basket hard any chance he had.

Good win. Like that Bosh got involved more and Shane hit some shots. Go Heat!

That is how Wall play though...

If he was on the Heat then he would outrun everyone on his own team in a fast break…

yeah, but maybe having Wade on his right and LBJ on his left...

might make a difference and slow his butt down lol

Best for the Heat to keep trying to win games early.

So our superstars can get their rest during the fourth, which is important in a back-to-back-to-back. Maybe keep Wade in just in case (well, maybe this is just me speaking in hopes that he’ll score 40), but I want to have Wade for defense as well. We don’t want any runs in the third that would necessitate The Big Three to keep playing in the fourth. Maybe play the big 5 lineup early? LET’S GO HEAT!

OH! Those are really cool! (OH! Those are really cool!)
I can't wait to see what kind of shoes Michael Beasley wears! (I can't wait to see what kind of shoes Michael Beasley wears!)
OH! I love Michael Beasley's hair! (I can't wait to see Michael Beasley play defense!)

Miami Heat basketball.

Miami Heat has all eyes on them; and so they Must play smart good basketball, otherwise they’ll end up having a repeat performance of last year finals. I am a die-hard Miami Heat fan and I feel that it is a disrespect to see my Miami Heat team play smart basketball one game and then slow and sluggish another game. To be a championship-caliber team, you Must play smart consistently throughout the season, playoff, and finals. Michael Jordan played every game as if it was a championship game. Miami Heat has that capability, but they Must play smart good basketball every game. No excuse for losing to a team like Milwaukee Bucks twice, knowing they (Bucks) ain’’t even go get past the playoffs. The reason why Chicago Bulls came up short, they threw everything at every team they played, but the kitchen sink, realizing that they needed the sink to get a drink of water. To much water for too long, leads the body to start filling up, no energy, no defenses to stop opposing teams, relying on your star player to bail you out everytime, doesn’t get it done. I don’t want my Miami Heat team take other teams for granted, because the shortness of the season has given hope to all sorry teams, that they can actually beat Miami Heat and get into the playoff and maybe win a championship. Miami Heat cannot allow any team they play, feel they have a chance with them. A team plays to win, not lose and then shrug it off because it just the regular season. I love watching sports; and I, as a female, know to give a half-ass performance on the court can come back and bite you on the ass. We see it all the time, never leave anything up to the sorry a— officials because they’re horrible and they are already costing teams losses. Miami Heat play smart, good basketball with loads of defense; so that when you go to other arenas to play in, coaches, players and fans will fear what your team is going to do to their team, I believe in the motto, ripe their hearts out, leave them emptiness and air. Know when to turn it on and not turn it off, until the end of the game buzzer blows. Play your bench early, to give them more experience to play better, decrease those turnover percentages per game, eliminate losing leads in the third and fourth quarter, all players get 6 fouls to use, use them smartly and wisely during the game. Not enough physical contact, like every player is scared to foul, decrease the amount of 3’s a team shots on your team,no easy post penetration to the basket, defense, defense, defense. I miss that fire that Miami Heat showed, when they beat the Boston Celtics to eliminate them from the playoffs for the first time in years. Miami Heat, their is no greater success then winning the NBA Championship trophy , Remember! Dallas Mavericks won and celebrated on yall court, not theirs. To settle for anything less, is uncivilized like Charles Barkley stale ass sense of humor.

Sigh, yeah. They do coast out there at times and coupled with the fact that the Heat are going to get whatever teams best that particular night can lead to a lot of stress on us fans. Especially the teams below .500, Wall was looking to attack and get to the rim every chance he could get, Jennings is going to look to outdo Miami and he has, the Pistons were fighting the whole game and would not go away and the Warriors kept fighting and beat us. I’m glad the Heat have found a way to pull a lot of those, but starting flat/easing up in some of those is a bad habit. The Heat need to be about defense first, rebound and getting out and running first and foremost—that is how they are built. I will say, it took Jordan and co. a couple of years to get through the Pistons and C’s also and last years’ Heat team did not have a bench the whole year and this team is a lot deeper and I don’t cringe when the bench players come in this year except for Curry lol.

In the hc, Bosh needs to be involved with posting and going to the rim in every game even if he struggles some with it and it is not his game. He is the best post up big man the Heat have and it gives the Heat balance when he is not just a jump shooter—he tends to be more aggressive all around when he goes to the rim also. The last game, he looked great, but he has been more passive since Wade has gotten back either by design or on him.
