Game #9: Miami Heat (7-1) vs. New Jersey Nets (2-6)

The Miami Heat will look to continue their strong start to the season tonight when for the first time this season they will face the New Jersey Nets up in Newark. Miami is off to their best start in franchise history, winning 7 of their first 8 games. The Nets aren't having as good of a time with the beginning of their season, stumbling out of the gate to just a 2-6 record. They did win their last game though, on the road in Toronto.
The story of the night again for the Heat will be the status of their two best players, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Both sat out Miami's triple overtime win in Atlanta on Thursday night, with LeBron nursing a sore left ankle and Wade dealing with a bruised left foot. They both participated in this morning's shootaround and are hoping to play tonight, though the decision wont be made until they go out for pregame warmups.
GAME NOTES
- The Heat are 4-0 on the road while the Nets are 0-2 at home. Miami is the only team in the NBA that has yet to lose away from home.
- Hopefully that is a trend that continues, with the Heat in the midst of a 5-game, 9-day road trip.
- This is the Nets final season in New Jersey. Starting in 2012-13 they will play their home games in Brooklyn, NY.
- Miami has won 7 consecutive games against the Nets and 10 of the last 11, sweeping the season series in each of the last two years.
- Mike Miller (hernia) and Eddy Curry (hip) are out for the Heat, with Dwyane Wade (foot), LeBron James (ankle) and Mickell Gladness (foot infection) questionable.
- For the Nets, Brook Lopez (foot) is out, Damien James (foot) is doubtful and Marshon Brooks (ankle) is questionable. Deron Williams (ribs) and Kris Humphries (shoulder) are probable.
- This will be the second night in a row that the Prudential Center hosts a team from South Florida as the Devils and Panthers played there last night.
Tipoff from the Prudential Center is set for 7:30. The Heat has two days off following tonight's game, the first time this season they'll enjoy more then a day in-between games. That extra rest time may be a factor in whether or not D-Wade and LeBron play tonight.

For the Heat it's precautionary. They're thinking long term here. If this were the playoffs then both James and Wade would be in.
The injuries for the Nets are a bigger deal. They have nothing on the bench
