Strong 2nd quarter sends Heat to big win over Pacers

Following their first loss of the season, some Heat fans thought that Miami would have some trouble with the 4-1 Pacers on Wednesday night. Those thoughts were only magnified when it was known that Dwyane Wade would sit this game out to rest his sore left foot. By the end of the first half those doubts would be long gone as Miami cruised to an easy 118-83 win over Indiana.
The 2nd quarter was the difference in this game, with the Heat jumping all over the Pacers 33-12. The defensive effort by Miami was stifling and they set a couple franchise records to make the night a memorable one. They held Indiana to just 1-of-15 shooting (6.7%) in the quarter, franchise lows in both field goals made and field goal percentage for a Heat opponent in a quarter.
Heat players and fans got a very scary moment in the 3rd quarter when LeBron James went to the ground clutching his left ankle after stepping on Pacers guard Paul George's foot while attempting a layup. James stayed down for what felt like the longest few seconds in the world, but got up and started walking off the injury. He started out limping but would end up staying in the game and resuming his dominant form. He finished with a game-high 33 points, 8 rebounds, 13 assists and a pair of steals.
GAME NOTES
- This was the first time the Pacers gave up 100 points this season.
- Miami scored 62 points in the first half. It was the 5th time this season they scored at least 60 points in a half.
- The Heat shot a perfect 12-for-12 from the foul line in the 1st half, and finished the game 26-of-28 from the charity stripe.
- Indiana committed 10 turnovers during their awful 2nd quarter and gave the ball away a total of 23 times in the game.
- James Jones started in place of Dwyane Wade and hit his first 4 shots from downtown.
- Another quietly awesome game for Chris Bosh, scoring 22 points, hitting all 8 of his free throws and adding 6 boards, an assist and 2 steals.
- Udonis Haslem had another double-digit rebounding performance coming off the bench and is still averaging over 10 per game this season.
Miami now jumps on a plane and heads up to Atlanta for a rematch with the Hawks, who handed the Heat their one and only loss of the season on Monday. The game will be broadcast on TNT with tipoff coming at 8pm.

Awesome, get well Wade. Like that Bosh is going to the rim/getting to the line more consistently since that first game and that Cole is playing well in the fourth again for this game. I wonder when we will get to see what Curry can do. Go Heat! Beat the Hawks

Ugh indeed
It was bound to happen in this shortened season though. I am just hopeful no one experiences an injury that will keep him out for an extensive period of time. That would be even tougher to withstand in this type of season. On the flip side, if by some chance both are out (which I think at least one finds a way to play for a TNT game), it gives Chris Bosh a chance to be the focal point and guys like Rio and Cole chances to step up.

to see a bounce back after the first loss of the season. This year’s Heat seem to be better at handling adversity that last year’s version.
