Game #11: Miami Heat (8-2) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (4-3)

The Miami Heat hit another bump in the road last night, blowing a 17-point second half lead and losing in overtime to the Golden State Warriors 111-106. Ruining Dwyane Wade's return to the lineup was former Heat draft pick Dorell Wright, who had gotten off to a slow start this season but blew up for 20-points and six triples, one of which came with 31 seconds left to tie the game and send it to OT.

One positive that came from the loss was the return of Dwyane Wade, who logged 34 points in 37 minutes and led all players with 16 free throws. Miami became the last time in the NBA to lose a game on the road, and tonight will try to start a new win streak away from home when they face ‘Lob City West' aka the Los Angeles Clippers.

Star-divide

Both teams are looking to bounce back from tough road losses, with the Clippers dropping a game against the Portland Trail Blazers. L.A.'s new star Chris Paul was limited to just 11 points and 3 assists while spending a good amount of time on the bench in foul trouble, and Blake Griffin scored just 4 of his 18 points in the second half. Look for the Clippers to come out hard against the Heat tonight in an attempt to rebound from the loss.

Los Angeles is coming off one of the most impressive offseason makeovers in recent history, adding Chris Paul, Caron Butler, Chauncey Billups and Reggie Evans. They have looked very good at times this season and are considered contenders to come out of the West. This will be the only meeting between the Heat and Clippers this season, unless both teams make it to the NBA Finals.

GAME NOTES

  • Los Angeles has won 3 straight and 8 of their last 10 games at the Staples Center.
  • Miami has lost their last three road games against the Clippers and split the season series in each of the last 4 seasons.
  • Dwyane Wade's 34 points against the Warriors last night was a season-high.
  • In his last 11 games against the Clippers, Wade is averaging 29.0 points.
  • In 11 career games against the Heat, Chris Paul is averaging 17.0 points and 10.7 assists.
  • On the season, Paul is averaging 14.6 points and 8.4 assists, his lowest totals since his rookie year.
  • This wraps up the 4th back-to-back set of the season for Miami. They are 2-1 in the second night of back-to-back's this year.
  • Mike Miller (hernia) and Eddy Curry (hip) are out for the Heat. Dwyane Wade (foot) is questionable.
  • For the Clippers, guard Eric Bledsoe (knee) is out.

Tipoff from the Staples Center is set for 10:30 and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.

This game was funny/awesome to watch. But yeah like MJ said yesterday (er..earlier today), “enjoy your third win” of the season. Gotta look forward to the Clippers tonight on ESPN.

tip off at 10:30 EST? ugh, man I hate the West Coast trips...

Clips have a dynamic duo and potentially a great team, will be tough. Come out strong, stay bleeping strong, finish strong Heat! learn from your mistakes. Sink the Clippers!

Reporter: What would you say a Greg Studrawa offense is like? Stud:

"Attack and be very physical…fly around…attacking, come after you and come after you and come after you…." Me: I love this answer.
