Heat demolish Bobcats, open season with 5th straight win

The Miami Heat came out like gangbusters on Sunday against Charlotte, jumping all over the Bobcats and beating them 129-90 in a game that was never really close. The Heat started the game on fire, springing out to a quick 20-6 lead in the game's first 6 minutes before finishing the opening quarter up by 18. Chris Bosh continued his strong start to the season with a huge first half, scoring 20 of his 24 points, as Miami moved to 5-0 on the season.

This game was quite different then the first meeting between the Heat and Bobcats, a game that required Dwyane Wade to hit the game-winning shot with 2.9 seconds left. This time around it was all Miami as the Heat never trailed in a game that was decided long before it was actually over. The dominance was done without much help from LeBron James, who finished with 16 points and didn't score his first bucket until the final minute of the first half, with Miami already up by 26.

A game like this is just what the doctor ordered. Erik Spoelstra was able to give his regulars plenty of rest, which is great considering the Heat play again tomorrow against the Hawks and then have another back-to-back set following just one day off.

GAME NOTES

  • The Heat is 5-0 for the first time in franchise history.
  • This was the largest margin of victory over the Bobcats in Heat franchise history, and it's tied for the 3rd largest margin of victory against any team.
  • The 129 points is the most scored by any NBA team so far this season.
  • Mario Chalmers finished with 16 points and shot a perfect 4-of-4 from downtown.
  • Norris Cole also scored 16 points, and he dished off a game-high 9 assists.
  • Miami shot 60% from the field, an NBA high for any team this season.

The Heat will go for a 6-0 start to the season tomorrow night when the Atlanta Hawks come to town. Tipoff from the AAA is set for 7:30.

What a dominant win

Even the score might be a little misleading. If the starters played, they would’ve won by atleast 50.

i love the way our point guards are playing

Cole is the steal of the decade! and Chalmers needs to keep taking the three when they leave him open. Both guys are fearless about taking the big shot, and they will keep defenses honest.

LETS GO HEAT!!!!!!!

Way to go Heat...

The Heat are off to a great start.. It is a good strategy to jump off early before the rest of the league realises what’s going on. I hope that the coaching staff have taken into account how grueling the schedule will be down the road. I hope the Heat will be able to sustain the tempo and have fresh legs towards the season end.

My other hope is for Bartier and Jones to show us their 3 points shooting skills. Miller should be back soon. The Heat certainly will need those skills against the zone defense of which the Heat will see plenty down the road. Any luck of adding another player with 3 points skills down the road?

Go Heat, Go!

Reporter: What would you say a Greg Studrawa offense is like? Stud:

"Attack and be very physical…fly around…attacking, come after you and come after you and come after you…." Me: I love this answer.

GET TO THE RIM HEAT (and SKY)! ATTACK THE PAINT!

Thanks, Coach Spoe !

It was very wise of Coach Spoe to have jettisoned last season’s offense that made his stars look like amateurs. I just watched the video of the first meeting between the Bobcats and the Heat and it reminded me of the Lebron we all knew. Dwade was tearing down the defense at will, while Bosh was aggresive in the paint. Very thrilling and refreshing to watch. Coach Spoe thanks for sending last season’s offensive strategy to the achives and letting your stars play their game ! Please may we not see the stand and look offense we saw last season again !!

…while Bosh was aggresive in the paint….

please keep doing this! He has the skill set to do it and mix in the smooth jumper, just don’t shoot just jumpers!

Hmm

That will teach the bobkittens don’t ever think to try and get a big lead on the heat.
I like how by the 4th quarter the big 3 were resting getting ready for the hawks tonight.
Glad Pittman got minutes as well as Harris.
With starters minutes Pittman should average 10 & 8 with 3 blocks.
Beat hawks, let’s go heat!

.Heat Tri-nasty is inevitable!
