Around SBN: Seahawks Trade for TE Kellen Winslow

Celtics come back with strong win over the Heat

In what's becoming an annoying trend for Miami, they again got out to a less then stellar start.  Energized by their home crowd, Boston jumped out to an early 11-point lead, their largest of the series up until that point.  The Celtics Big 3 scored the teams first 23-points but the Heat held their own, and getting out of the 1st quarter only down by 6 was definitely a positive.  Miami finished the quarter shooting 50% from the field but Boston shot 62% while forcing the Heat into 5 turnovers.

It didn't take the Heat long to get back into the swing of things, starting the 2nd quarter on a 7-2 run and then later going on a 10-0 run that gave them a 6-point lead.  Joel Anthony was having a monster half, going 5-for-5 from the field while grabbing 7 rebounds, 4 on the offensive glass.  Miami's defense showed up big time in the 2nd, and though they did give a couple of wide open treys to Delonte West, the Celtics shooting percentage dropped down to 47% at the half.  The Heat stayed true, shooting 50% throughout the half to take a 2-point lead into the break.

Star-divide

The 3rd quarter was pretty much all Boston.  They came out as hot as they did to begin the game, but this time the Heat couldn't slow them down.  The big play of the quarter came when Dwyane Wade's arms got locked up with Rajon Rondo's and both fell to the floor.  Rondo tried to break his fall but ended up bending his elbow the wrong way in what looked uglier and uglier every time they showed the replay.  The Celtics kept their foot on the gas despite the injury and took an 11-point lead into the final quarter.

The 4th quarter was more of the same, and the Heat is going to need to rebound between now and Monday night.  That's it...

GAME NOTES

  • Chris Bosh was totally neutralized by Kevin Garnett.  Bosh finished with 6 points and 5 boards while Garnett looked like his old self with 28 and 17.
  • D-Wade led the Heat with 23 points and 7 assists.
  • Joel Anthony had a huge game, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
  • LeBron James shot 6-of-16, scoring just 15 points.  He shot 3-of-7 from the foul line.
  • Miami shot 50% in the first half and 35% in the second.
  • Mario Chalmers added 17 points off the bench on 7-of-9 shooting.  He also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
  • Mike Bibby....0-for-5, 0 rebounds, 1 assist, 14 minutes.
  • James Jones took only 3-pointers, going 2-of-7.

Finally, you have got to give some credit to Rajon Rondo for gutting it out the way he did despite the pain he must have been in.  Game 4 coming up on Monday...gut check time for the Heat.

Well that sucked--credit to the C's,

but just like the wins, put this behind you Heat. Game 4, beat the C’s!

We shouldn't panic

I mean this is only one game, we must win at least once in TD Garden. If we don’t we will have really big problem. Let’s just win game 4 and go home with 3-1 lead. Who’s with me?

Shamefull !

1.The Heat started the game too cautious, too much respect for the Celtics.
2.They started the game as if they were giving this one away.
3.Doc Rivers guaranteed they will be prepared and indeed they were.
4.The Celtics applied pressure from the first whistle on Bibby and wonder why the Heat did not do so on Rondo from the first quarter.
5.Clearly the Heat were outcoached.
6.Only Anthony was hungry every other person was laikaidasical.
7.This was so shameful to watch.
8.That four days rest was no good to the Heat.
9.I hope this game will shake off the match rust from the Heat, even Shaq who had not played since Feb was sharper than all Heat players but Joel Anthony.
10.Bosh was nonexistent.

we cant keep starting the game and 2nd half flat

I kind of have a headache after watching that one but just wanted to vent to fellow Heat fans. We all know we NEED to win on Monday, so the fellas need to get it together and get this victory. Gosh don’t you hate seeing Pierce flexing and strutting and doing all that bs? Lets Heat, play hard like games 1 and 2.

I know what you mean, that 2nd half was...

tough to watch—C’s outhustled them and shot well also (50% and 50% from threes). One game though, need intensity—defense was late—for the whole game again like the last 3 against them—beat the C’s

Watch game replays tomorrow

Wade tried to post up on Rondo to keep him from getting the ball, and when Rondo gave him a little pull, Wade put his leg behind his legs, put his arm over his chest and Jiu Jitsu’ed his ass to the ground. Didn’t like the dislocated arm, but I did like Wade not letting Rondo pull him around.

Chalmers needs to start...

No problem with Z starting as it works with Joel’s rotation, but Bibby is hurting us…

A +/- of -18 in 17 minutes says everything anyone needs to know…we can’t keep letting teams to get a jump and then make it back up after he comes out…it’s not like he is scoring so we’re missing nothing except a slow old point guy who carries the ball too long up the court, cannot stay in front of anyone and isn’t a great passer…

He's a good distributer, but he dribbles the ball too much.

It’s not that the celtics had more rebounds than us only 3 more, it’s not that they hit a 3 more freethrows, there 3 pointers killed us.
Pierce and K.G each had 20?
That can’t happen.
Only one of that crew had 20 last game.
Chalmers I agree needs to start, Bibby is not nailing anything.
I would give Eddy House some minutes, he knows how to play off of 3 all stars.
Wade and Bron must each have 25+, Bosh has to have a double double next game he was a complete no show!
Joel outplayed him!
Get to the foul line more, put your foot on the celtics throat early, dominate the boards and beat these fools!
Let’s go heat!

I agree with you on Eddy House . He needs to play more minutes. The problem with Eddy is that his enthusiasm leads to frequent fouls and can interupt the offensive rhythym of the Heat offense.

THAT just happened to one of our main guys.

Do you really think we care who did it?

We’re just hoping he’s going to be well asap, and other than that it’s just frustration because your squad has been playing better than ours.

Rondo was trying to play ruff with wade on that play

on one angle you could see rondo locks wades arm against his body while wade was falling. This was all on rondo, still hate to see anything like that. this was not a paul peirce moment cause he Actually got hurt

Boston is an excellent team with a lot of days rest.

Doc did a great job of preparing them with the 3 days rest the Celtics had. The Heat should be better Game 4 because of the less days rest factor. I doubt Boston has 3 more efforts like that especially from Kevin Garnett.

The only thing better than an Anderson is a Granderson.

Obviously we're never going to agree

I think Wade meant to give a playoff foul, and couldn’t’ve forseen what happened. But whether it was on purpose or not, it was a gruesome injury and Rondo showed major guts coming back like that.

by JT11 on May 8, 2011 1:46 PM EDT reply actions

OK – OBVIOUSLY Boston was gonna play strong, they ARE A GOOD TEAM.

Second, we DO have home court advantage if this becomes a battle of home courts.

Third, the ONLY reason why people are saying that Wade pulled him is because of the ANNOUNCER. If you watch that without the annoucer telling you what to think, it doesn’t seem at all like he pulled Rondo down.

FOURTH – Bosh must show up, and RIO NEEDS THE START

by CopperShark on May 8, 2011 4:21 PM EDT reply actions

Gah…this is what happens when Bosh gets shut down by an opposing player. Just have to look forward to game 4.

Possible return for Haslem in game 4/5?

It was Mother’s day today and all I saw was trolling. Now I see why Laker fans act the way they do when u say something regarding the Celtics and their fan base. Stop the talking until the series is over.

Go Heat .... wasn't a dirty play, just another physical interaction in the playoffs

unfortunately Rondo was hurt on the play but he was able to come back and play and showed some true grit. Wade already apologized and even said Rondo is a tough MF’er …again, NOT a dirty play … Also the Heat will win tomorrow

by Ro Joseph on May 9, 2011 1:18 AM EDT reply actions

the Heat are not 6-2 in the playoffs because of the starting lineup. They are 6-2 in the playoffs despite the starting lineup.
That said Chalmers should continue to lead the bench, keep Bibby has a starter but I say either start Joel Anthony or Magloire.
Z needs to play maybe 15 minutes and that’s when the celtics have Kristic as center.
Let’s go heat, steal one in Boston tonight!

Hmm

Fellow heat fans what are your views on this
2011-2012 heat roster:

PG:Chalmers/Earl Watson/House
SG:Wade/Miller
SF:Lebron/Jones
PF:Bosh/Haslem/Troy Murphy
C:Dalembert/Joel/Pittman

Reserves: De’Sean Butler & Steve Novak

.Heat Tri-nasty is inevitable!

I like the list but...

Instead of Earl Watson how about Aaron Brooks. Love Dalembert as a starter and maybe Josh Howard in the mix?

Well....

The suns traded Nash’s backup for Brooks I doubt them let him go, and how much cash would Brooks want?
Our cash needs to capture Dalembert first.
As for Juwan Howard that dude is done mane.
Done!
With Haslem back next season, Troy Murphy would be perfect.
If one of the power forwards has foul trouble Troy could step in especially if there is an injury.
Troy brings the three point shooting big man that gets 10+ rebounds with minutes.
Howard is a scrub now.
