Eastern Conference Semifinals Game 3: Miami Heat (2-0) vs. Boston Celtics (0-2)

Photo

After a very successful first couple of games for the Miami Heat, they will take their talents on the road to Boston for Games 3 and 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.  We all hope a successful road trip begins on Saturday night when the Celtics host Miami at the TD Garden.  At the moment things certainly look good from a Heat perspective, but Erik Spoelstra and his clan are well aware that they need to keep their foot on the gas in order to keep things heading in the right direction.

A lot of attention this week from the Celtics side of things have been about Shaquille O'Neal being back in the lineup for Game 3.  This will obviously help the Celtics in a way that they have needed it and that is on the defensive end.  When Miami is able to roam around offensively in and out of the paint, that is when they are at their best.  It enables them to open up the floor for their dynamic scorers and draw defenders out of position, which allows their 3-point shooters to get all those open looks they love so much.

Star-divide

One thing that having Shaq on the floor will do for Boston is it will keep Joel Anthony on the bench.  The Heat will likely put out Erick Dampier and maybe even Jamaal Magloire to deal with Shaq when he is on the floor, but Anthony is just too small to handle the bigger O'Neal, who outweighs him by close to 100lbs.  However, since Shaq is towards the end of his career and is much slower and less productive now then he was a few years ago, it's likely that Doc Rivers will only have him out there between 10-15 minutes.

GAME NOTES

  • Shaquille O'Neal has played a total of 5 minuets 29 seconds since February 1st
  • In their history, the Heat has gone 7-0 in playoff series that they win the first two games.
  • Boston has lost the first two games of a playoff series 11 times and are 1-10 in those situations.
  • Including last years playoffs, Miami has lost 10 consecutive games at the TD Garden.
  • Chris Bosh has collected 9 career playoff double doubles, 4 of which have come this season.
  • Since the Celtics Big 3 came to Boston they are 29-7 in the playoffs.
  • Udonis Haslem (foot) is still listed as doubtful.
  • Boston's injury report has Shaquille O'Neal (calf) questionable and Paul Pierce (Achilles) probable.

Tipoff from the TD Garden is set for 8pm.  The game will be televised nationally on ABC.  The Heat will host a "Road Rally" viewing party at Bokamper's Sports Bar & Grill, 1280 Pine Island Road in Plantation.

Let's go Heat!

Bring the intensity, beat the C’s again!

"Wally: [going home in a taxicab] I treated myself to a taxi. I rode home through the city streets. There wasn't a street, there wasn't a building, that wasn't connected to some memory in my mind. There, I was buying a suit with my father. There, I was having an ice cream soda after school. And when I finally came in, Debbie was home from work, and I told her everything about my dinner with Andre."

Dampier vs Shaq

Both big men will only clog the lane. I don’t expect either of them to have more than 10 minutes of playing time. Wade and James will continue to attack no matter what.. Team Defense will give us the win again.

And also..

..we can’t start slow again especially @boston this time.

Really, shaq will be able to play maybe 8 minutes

and just bring Z back, he’ll spread the floor so shaq can be thoroughly abused on PnRs

I Want To see Magloire

Does any one realize he has the season high with 19 rebounds in a game. I would like to see the big cat get some minutes. Aslo he can negate shaq’s best skill, " im just big and slow so im just going to run my body into people when they get in the paint" not an actual quote lol. Magloire can do that as well.

LETS GO HEAT!!!!!!!
Joel Anthony is the man
Henne please don't be good be Great

Magloire should get minutes against Shaq.
Dominate the boards, Wade and James to score 25+ each, with 2 steals a piece, 2 blocks, 7+ rebounds each, 5 assists+ and get to the foul line.
Bosh needs a double double again vs K.G.
Heat role players must step up and Miller,Bibby,Jones,Chalmers must nail those threes.
Let’s go heat!
Steal a game in Boston!

This game is huge.

What if...

2006 NBA Finals rematch? New Big 3 vs. Dirk and the revamped Mavs?

They owned the Heat in the regular season so I’d wouldn’t like the match up. Chandler looks dirty on the oops and Dirk is Dirk. Bosh should be able to help contain him though. Unless you put LeBron on him.

And also all you need is to play great defense because the Mavs live and die by the jump shot. Looking 2 series down the road, but it’s fun. Focused on Heat vs. Celtics though. Pumped.

I was thinking the same thing a couple days ago. They’re one of the two teams we did not record a win against during the regular season.

Shaq coming back might help the Heat more than the Cs

first, remember what happened when Shaq came back last year? He has a sweet highlight as he made Joakim Noah fall on his face, but he was really really awful for the most part

second, shaq can only play 8-10 minutes at most (any further will be hilarious to see)

third, shaq coming back means that the flow of the celtics rotations will be disturbed, and they’ll have to make a concerted effort to reintroduce shaq, forcing things far too much- a notch in the heat’s gameplan

fourth, he is a ginormous defensive liability no matter what “offense” he can provide

We can't lose this way again next game..

..James and Bosh had a bad game. Proud of Anthony again. We need better effort next time. Defense was there but shooting was awful.
