2012-2013 heat roster:

Let's say the heat have won 2-3 titles with their big 3...

Heat still need somewhat of an all star caliber point guard.

After already filling the void at center with Dalembert and with the emerge of Pittman, Steve Nash whom will be a free agent in 2012 decides to join the Miami heat in search of his ring.

2012-213 roster:

PG: Nash/Chalmers/Beverley

SG: Wade/Miller/Hasbrouck

SF:LeBron/De'Sean Butler

PF: Bosh/Haslem/Troy Murphy

C:Dalembert/Pittman/Joel

What? How can they win 2-3 titles by next off-season?

I am saying they can win this season and next season.
Then in 2012 Nash joins the heat and they can win 2-3 more.

please, no

Nash is nearly 40 years old, and we need young blood. I agree about Beverley and Chalmesr, but Nash is not a solution. I definetly wouldn’t sign both Butler and Hasbrouck, becouse we need solid players, with experience and stuff. Dalembert would be nice, but I’d rather sign Greg Oden. and Troy Murphy, really? I mean, Troy Murphy?

Nash will be 39 by then...

Nash was never athletic in the first place, and then he started to age and his lack of athleticism became a weakness that other teams try to attack. 2 years from now, he won’t be able to guard most college point guards. He won’t be All-star caliber at 39, he would be the backup to Chalmers and the type of player that Bibby is now just with even LESS athleticism, but better passing.

agree

you can see that we have won this series thanks to athleticism, getting to the line and drawing fauls. we have a potential point guard Mario Chalmers + signing Beverley. LeBron James is a great passer too, so we need changes:
Wade’s backup – Mike Miller has proven that he is not worth his prize, so we can trade him in this offseason to get someone better than him. I may be nuts, but what about Ray Allen?
big man – Zydrunas Ilgauskas can’t do defense, Dampier is not solid and Jamaal Magloire is Jamaal Magloire. The only C that can stay is Joel “MVP” Anthony. I don’t mind having in a roster Dexter Pittman, too. But we need starting big men and the sollution may be: Dalembert or Oden ( I don’t say anything about Marc Gasol, we can’t afford him"
HEAT MUST RESIGN JAMES JONES – this is fact. they have to.
give the rock to Eddie House is a good player from the bench, and if we give him minutes, he will provide spark.

by MatthewHeat on May 14, 2011 1:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Look at Jason Kidd at 39, he is still playing well.
Nash will do the same.
Am not saying Nash has to start but having him on the heat roster won’t hurt.
I do agree James Jones should be resigned.
The thing with House is that he can’t guard second string point guards, he does not handle the ball enabling there to be some cross matching having to put him at shooting guard.
He is a liability and can only be put in the game for short spurts.
I do however think the heat should get Dorell Wright back after his 3 year deal is up.
How about this roster:
2011-2012 heat:
PG: Chalmers/Earl Watson/Beverley
SG: Wade/Mike Miller/Michael Redd
SF: LeBron/Jones/DeSean Butler
PF: Bosh/Haslem/Troy Murphy
C: Dalembert/Pittman/Joel

2012-2013 roster:
PG:Chalmers/Nash/Beverley
SG:Wade/Wright
SF:LeBron/Jones/DeSean Butler
PF: Bosh/Haslem/Troy Murphy
C: Pittman/Dalembert/Joel

Not much better...

Kidd is far bigger and more athletic than Nash, plus Nash dribbles way too much to be paired with 2 superstars who have the ball in their hands a lot. We can’t afford to have a defensive liability, you mentioned House as a liability but Nash 2 years from now will be worse.

Also not a fan of getting Michael Redd, I like him a while ago in Milwaukee but he is old and hasn’t played a full season since like ‘07-’08. Troy Murphy is actually okay if we can get him cheap enough, because he is an extremely underrated player. But I’m not sure if we could come up with the cap space for all these players. Wright will get 3- and 4-year contract offers from other teams adding up to 25-30 million, to get him + Nash + Troy Murphy +Dalembert is unrealistic, we won’t get them for verterans minimum like we got Juwan Howard and Jamaal Magloire.

where do you propose we get the cap space to sign Wright...

we couldn’t afford him under the cap this year and he has played so well that his next contract will be for more money…

I think you play too much NBA 2K11...

…with the trade override switched on…

Nash?? Isn’t Jason Kidd, Kidd plays well cos he has the bigger body that he can guard 2 & sometimes 3’s so his lack of quickness isn’t a problem…Nash while a more effective point now, can’t make up the defensive need…it’s MIke Bibby all over again…
Troy Murphy?? He’s the basketball version of Weekend at Burnies…
Redd?? Was a great player but too much of an injury concern, let alone if he has anything left…
Dalembert?? Another version of Erika, slow and old…

And most importantly…

Where is the cap space coming from?? Miami should focus on young, quick and defensive minded guards and bigs…that’s where we need the focus to be, not old has-beens like Bibby & Dampier who are done…

Plus once again, after sprouting on about a player must get minutes all season, now you’re flipping & saying he shouldn’t…it was only last week you were on Eddie House and now you are off…start of the season Magloire was meant to be the “dynasty centre”…you need to get some realistic thinking going…

E-Gangster?? What the hell is E-Gangster??
You Americans have some strange ideas…

All I did mate was point out some problems with your roster, a little player wise, a little financial…you flip about with your points of view all season long and can’t even counter some criticism with anything to back your opinions up…instead you start name calling…back up your points and stick to a point of view…

Oh and Eddie House doesn’t need to get more game time…he’s on the bench for a reason…

I know when they came together.
Rice was traded for Mourning.
And the only team that stopped them from getting to the finals was the bulls and knicks homes.
Just making sure you know lol
But back to the topic at hand.
House does not need big minutes just some time.
I know he is a liability on defense and is a shooter in a point guard’s body which would cause a cross matchup and the 2 guard will have his way with House.
It all depends on the cap, we can’t say the roster is off cause hey nobody thought Bron was coming to Miami.
Don’t underestimate Riley bro.

Of course that's what you were doing...

I don’t underestimate Riley but the only way to clear the cap space is trade one of the big 3…and yeah that will happen…

They can’t afford it and to be honest, healthy Miller & Haslem next season, why would you bother?? Just keep getting role players not named Bibby, House or Dampier…

i agree with TooManyNinjas

instead of investing on the old players, we need to focus on drafting and getting young players that will be in the game for a long time.

there is no perfect team

so why not see what this team does before we start signing players and trading players if we win it all.. then like the saying goes, if it aint broke dont fix it…

I love Nash playing with the Heat!

Yeah he’s 40 but hell kid can shoot, pass and run the floor! So what if he can’t defend anyone…..Have you seen a heat game? Bibby can’t stop anyone as well! The heat play GREAT team defense and (as a kings fan) i know you guys will be signing Dalembert away from us, So really having a weak link at point wont be THAT big of a deal, Also Mike Miller is a good play, so he isn’t lights out right now…..give him time, hes been off because of that tumb injury; no need to “trade” him after one season and teams still have to respect his shot

Nash, his passing, his and his shooting will make LeBron/Wade/bosh instently better….not only spreading the floor but when Bron/wade drive and kick….Who else would you want taking the 3 pt shot? And even if he doesnt take it…..he will make sure you get some points on the possesion

by shadowchicken on May 22, 2011 4:23 PM EDT reply actions

Bibby was guarding Rose well...

Bibby is a much more athletic right now than Nash is and we’re looking at 2 years down the road. Nash will be able to pass and shoot but will be a major defensive liability and seriously won’t be able to lead the break. And his shooting won’t be as consistent be/c his legs will be almost shot. And it’s not like we could get him for vets minimum…he used to be a superstar and is a big name he will charge a decent amount. Not worth it…stick with young Chalmers who can defend, rebound, lead the break, and his shooting is imrpoving.

what about Javale Mcgee?

they say the biggest issue about the heat is their lack of big men. and i kinda agree since the only active 7 fooot guy is big Z. so why not Javale? we can get a big man with length AND athleticism. he’s crazy when going for blocks and can also grab tons of rebounds.

plus! he can represent us in the dunk contest! for what its worth anyways ^^

by royxzkiexx on May 23, 2011 12:16 AM EDT reply actions

either Andre Miller or Jerryd Bayless

for the PG. i’m kinda on a 50-50 with this one cause if the heat re-sign Chalmers(which they probably will) we will be wasting talent if we sign Jerryd since he’s also starting material. however, if we sign Miller, he will be a great mentor for Rio(just like Joe Dumars and Grant Hill) but he’ll be 36-37 then.

by royxzkiexx on May 23, 2011 12:24 AM EDT reply actions

I agree on Bayless

Been a fan of his since his college days.
The heat will sign Chalmers cause he plays D, can drain a 3 and drives to the rim for contact now.
Bayless is also an quick athletic point guard too that plays D, can drain the 3 and drives to the rim.
As for McGee, well according to the heat Pittman will step in and get time tomorrow.
He is working with Mourning and Askins on improving, he has great footwork and is developing his post game better.
With Dalembert to be signed and Joel Anthony signed through 4 more years I don’t see the heat getting McGee.

Hat doesn't need a point guard

Bibby has done a relatively good job adjusting to Spoelstra’s system, and Chalmers is a pretty decent point guard as well. Either of them can start for Miami, depending on the opponent.

What the Heat really need is another big man, particularly on the center slot because Big Z and Juwan Howard isn’t getting any younger. In addition to that, he should be a good passer, defender, and rebounder to clog the lanes and keep opponents away from the glass. M’Benga would be a good pick for them because he can be signed to a veteran’s minimum and yet contribute efficiently.

by Tenki D'Addario on May 23, 2011 11:21 AM EDT reply actions

As it relates to center I already said who we need...

Dalembert!
If the heat have to get MBenga or Nazr we failed in free agency.
Yes Pittman will come on well for them next season but still the heat need a proven double double guy.
What can MBenga do that Joel Anthony can’t do?
No need for MBenga, heat need Dalembert!
If Nene opts out and signs with the heat am all for it but the more realistic need at center is Samuel Dalembert!
As for point guard Bibby has struggled in these playoffs.
Finally scoring well in game 3. House has a player option for next season so surely he will exercise it. I say the heat resign Chalmers and sign another defensive smart point guard in Earl Watson. Bibby can’t guard his shadow!
