Game #82: Miami Heat (57-24) vs. Toronto Raptors (22-59)

On the final day of the regular season, The Miami Heat will play their final game before the playoffs begin when they head north of the border to Canada to face the Toronto Raptors.  This game will be a great opportunity for the Heat's reserve players to get some playing time and have a nice ‘warm up' before the playoffs begin this weekend.

Erik Spoelstra is expected to rest most of his regular players as Miami clinched the #2 seed with their win over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night.  With Dwyane Wade, Mike Miller and Erick Dampier already a bit banged up, a little extra rest could be just what the doctor ordered.  That probably means more playing time for guys like Eddie House, Jamaal Magloire and maybe even Dexter Pittman

Star-divide

Toronto played their last game without many of their regulars, using just 8 players in a loss to Milwaukee on Monday.  Raptors coach Jay Triano was without Leandro Barbosa, Reggie Evans, Amir Johnson, Sonny Weems, Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon and Linas Kleiza, and its uncertain if any of them will be available to play tonight against Miami.

GAME NOTES

  • Miami is 3-0 against Toronto this season, winning each game by an average of 11.4 points.
  • The Heat has also won 4 in a row and 6 of their last 8 against Toronto.
  • A loss would guarantee the Raptors the 3rd worst record in the NBA, and more importantly to them the 3rd seed in the NBA Draft Lottery.
  • The Heat has won 14 of their last 17 games while Toronto has lost 10 of their last 12.
  • A win would give Miami 58 wins, the most since going 59-23 back in 2004-05.
  • Udonis Haslem (foot) is out for Miami while Mile Miller (thumb, ankle) is questionable.
  • The Raptors injured list is a bit longer.  Sonny Weems (knee) is questionable while Linas Kleiza (knee), Leandro Barbosa (finger), Andrea Bargnani (ankle), Jose Calderon (hamstring), Reggie Evans (finger) and Amir Johnson (ankle) are all out for Toronto.

Tipoff from the Air Canada Centre is set for 8pm.  Lets Go Heat!

Bynum with a hyper-extended knee tonight...

rest up big 3/Damp, whoever needs it cause of being banged up—stay in Miami Big 3 if it was up to me; go Heat! Pitt and whoever is in there, beat the Raptors.

Homecourt against LA!

I watched the standings and the heat already have homecourt against the Lakers – thats huge guys and finally an explanation for Kobes extra training in Miami^^ He must felt it. If you ask me today I would count the heat in the finals but it will be tough against the Cs and bulls.

For the Celts I feel bad – they lost Perkins and won’t be able to overcome that at the end because Shaq doesn’t look like he could compensate that…. I feel sorry, especially for K.G. – sure he did unpopular things in the season but finally is in great shape with a healthy knee but that won’t be enough if you doesn’t have the presence around the rim.

about that Atlanta game: Glad that James Jones finally decided a game for the Heat – sharp shooters need games like this.. I hope Eddie will have one too tonight!

both and difficult question

I would root for Miami if they would deserve it.. On the last game I was happy for the Heat but feel bad for K.G. – I’ve been a KG and DWade- Fan for years… I live in germany and so I root more to the players instead to the teams – but if you ask me who is your number one I would choose K.G.

The first and most important thing for me: BEAT LA!!! No matter what team that at the end will be!

I’m curious if Stacey King would call him, Big Sexy Dex—if he was a Heat announcer Lol.
