Awful 2nd half sends Heat to loss in Chicago
As jacked up as the Heat seemed leading up to tipoff, they stumbled out of the gate at the United Center. Chicago jumped out to an early 7-2 lead while the Heat missed their first five shots. They would quickly turn things around though, led by LeBron who made 3 straight shots for Miami. As a team the Heat would make their next six shots and take a nice little 6-point lead.
Miami finished the 1st quarter shooting 59% while holding the Bulls to just 39%, and the Heat led 31-23 after 1. It seemed that starting quarters were the issue for Miami in this one as they began the 2nd just as poorly as they did the first. The Heat opened the 2nd by making just 1-of-8 from the field but still were able to hold a slim 4-point lead.
Just like in the opening quarter, Miami would figure things out offensively and keep their semi-comfortable lead. The two teams would trade buckets in the final minute of the half, but LeBron got the last laugh and sunk a long J at the buzzer, giving the Heat a 9-point lead heading into the break.
The 3rd quarter would be a forgettable one for Miami though, as they would get out-shot, out-rebounded and pretty much out-played in every way possible. The Heat was outscored 27-14 in the 3rd, with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James scoring all 14 points in the quarter for Miami. Actually, they had scored 21 straight if you go back into the 2nd quarter, so obviously someone other then the dynamic duo was going to have to step up in the final 12 minutes.
Entering the 4th quarter the Heat bench had scored a total of just 2 points and the Bulls were on a 20-6 run, grabbing 13 more rebounds then Miami. Chicago finally started missing some shots as the final period wore on, and slowly but surely the Heat clawed their way back from a 9-point deficit. The Bulls missed 9 straight shots, finding themselves down by 4 when Kyle Korver finally drilled a trey to get them back on the board.
Chicago would finally hit some shots, and they did it when it counted. That Korver triple would begin a 9-0 run for the Bulls, who were making it look easy again while the Heat, who average over 100 points per game, couldn't buy a bucket. Chris Bosh missed a pair during that stretch, bringing his ridiculously awful shooting night to 1-for-18.
A little 5-0 run by the Heat, capped off by a nice and-1 by LeBron James, would tie the game at 89 with 36 seconds left. From there it was déjà vu all over again as the Heat would end up getting beat by another Bulls triple. Last time it was Korver, this time it was Luol Deng. LeBron would get a chance to tie the game but took an ugly trey that wasn't even close, and that would be that.
GAME NOTES
- Miami shot 25% in the 3rd quarter and 39% in the 4th.
- The Bulls are now 11-4 on the 2nd night of back-to-backs.
- They are 1 of only 4 teams in the NBA not to lose more then two games in a row.
- Another solid night for Mario Chalmers, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-2 from downtown. He added 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
- Only 3 bench players made it in the game for the Heat, combining for 2 points. Thanks, Eddie House.
- Erick Dampier had 5 points and 5 boards in just under 30 minutes. Big Z played as many minutes as Carlos Arroyo...none.
- Now the Heat is saying that Mike Miller has an ear infection, which is why he didn't make the trip.
Quick turnaround for the Heat, as they come home to host the Wizards tomorrow night. Until then...

This Bosh thing better be an abberation man
This team has had horrible luck historically with big men and how well they play in the playoffs.
Wanna prove you are a true heatfan? Remind people you lived through the Mark Blount era
Just playing devils advocate…but I think Shaq did pretty well in the playoffs for us in 05 and 06. Since then though, you are correct.

Damp played well, as did Mario...
Bosh will be OK—off, off, off night is all. Well offensively he will be, he is just not a tough guy in the post on D. I hate Korver—always shows up at the end to hit a big shot. Big Z should have played some with the Bulls out-boarding the Heat by around 10—I don’t get it, at least he has some size. Get healthy Miller, UD—Go Heat, beat the Wizards.

Did Bosh say anything about his performance ?

Bosh is over rated...
I’ll leave it at that..
I’m not waiting two years for this process Mr. Riley, u should of traded Miller, buyout Murphy, Mike Bibby and release Big Cat and whoever the odd man out is after him..

But I agree bad games happen.
This was simply a bad game for the whole team, lets put it behind. We still can make a run and grab the 1 seed, and then were in business for the playoffs.

70 pts from the big three, 19 from the rest
The writing is on the wall, the excuses at some point just don’t cover the reality.
12-14 vs current .500+ teams.
1-7 vs the league’s top 6.
3-8 in 4-pt-or-less games.
The only good news was Ainge’s collosal blunder…

The Big 3 will need to lead the way (everyone know this) I don't think anyone was making excuses
The Bulls were better last night—but the game was in question up until the end despite Bosh going 1-18 at the Bulls home-court—the last Boston game was similar with it being close. Lets see how the season plays out I say, but I did like Ainge’s decision—he made Mr. Mean cry; take it out on the Lakers Mr. Mean :)

SUCK!
The coaching staff sucks!! Individually speaking, besides Noah and Gibson there isn’t one good or even medicore defender and yet the Bulls are the #2 defensive team in league. Clearly Coach Thibs and his staff are better than Spo and Company. Bulls have ONE player who can create his shot, and yet they scored at will on Heat. This team has 2 of the top 3 players, and an efficient player in Bosh and could not score when it mattered? IM SORRY BUT COACHING MUST GO.
I know the players should be held accountable but you can not fire players, but i do believe if they were better coached games like last night woud’ve been a lil bit different.
The Heat are 5th in points given up and the Bulls are 3rd in points given up--the most important defensive stat there is imo...
so both are good. If Bosh makes some shots which he normally does, the Heat win. The Bulls are a good team regardless if they have one player who can create his own shot, but they have a good post player is boozer and good banger in Noah again.

*but they have a good post player in boozer....

Understandable But.....
Yea if Wade makes some shots vs Boston (which he normally does), The Heat win.
The point I’m making is Heat should be a much better team. The Bulls are a good team because of ROSE (one player who creates) dominance of the Offensive end. And they’re also a good team because they play Excellent Team D. Without the banger Noah they went 22-8, vs quailty teams (Heat Included). IMO Bosh is better than Boozer. at this point Bulls are better than Heat and it should be the opposite…..
Boozer is a better post player than Bosh...
and the Heat do not have a good low post option—it is what it is. Still, Bosh usually hits some of those jumpers and does fake and drive and get to the line—he does that, the Heat win and yes if any of the Big 3 have an off night, the Heat will struggle. House, Miller, Jones, ect will need to make some shots in the playoffs—they are capable, but have not in big games a lot of the time. UD should help with boards and points when he gets back also.

Good point on Bosh
I think this team is more than capable to win it this year. They lost most of these big games by single digits…They need the right plays in the clutch and play much better defense.
Wade usually has poor games against Boston. Same with Chicago.

Chill, Kelly
we lost a game we shoudve won, but the season isnt over. Dont act like that was game 7 of the finals. After Spoelstra’s team goes on another 10 game winning streak, you’ll be saying “O I love coach Spoelstra” and then forget this game ever happened. Dont overreact.
I gots to put the team on my back, doo.

Not Overreacting
I would not say that, because they’ll still be 12-14 vs the good teams, 0-5 vs Celts and Bulls (whom thus must go thru to even GET to finals) 1-7 vs top 6 teams…10 Game winning streak means nothing if you can not beat the best…All i’m saying is WE have not seen Spo’s best…
whats your thoughts on bibby
supposedly wants a buyout from the wizards, though there is talk wizards might not give it to him. He definetly wants to start, so chalmers would have to go to the bench, and from what ive heard from Hawks fans, hes lost a step…or 4. Defensively hes been pretty abysmal, but hes still a wiley vet at the pg position.
I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!
C'mon now!
Who cares whether Jamison’s career (such as it is) was hurt by Lebron’s decision to invoke his right to change teams. It happens.
Horrible loss last night. I am broken up over it. We cannot beat the elite teams and this is a huge problem.
What was Boston thinking? Jeff Green? Really? At least Heat fans can console themselves with that, but at this rate it is obvious that we can’t beat either Chicago or Boston.

This Miami team seems like something familiar......
The Cleveland Cavaliers of 08-10, anyone? Amazing and really fun to watch regular season team, but you guys just cant beat the top teams, since your bench is terrible, Chalmers is an average pg at best, and Dampier is washed up.
Damp has actually played well as did Mario last night...
It is better than than the ‘11 Cavs, don’t you think? As I said, let the season play out—we may be able to beat those teams when it counts and the Heat have been getting better and better against them; if they don’t, then they don’t—always next year.

Hmm
Bosh sucked last night.
Better rebound.
Let’s go heat!
Get it together Bosh!
Miami Thrice is incredible....Heat Tri-nasty is inevitable!
Sorry for not being around to help you guys out w/ these little rascals.
Boy did we play two completely different halves. But hey, Bosh won’t be go 1-18 every night. Lets just look to rebound against the Wizards tonight.
