What happened, Peninsula?

... I remember "Peninsula is Mightier" from before you had LeBron and Bosh. It used to be a lot more fun to read here, and hang around.

You guys used to talk basketball, but now 50% of the game threads consists of whining about refs, talking about how superior your team is, and plain aggression. Talk about how someone should "deck" this player, how that other player should get his "teeth knocked out", and more of those kinds of silly posts.

Star-divide

I really like Haslem, Ilgauskas, Wade. House is still one of my favourite ex-Celtics and I fondly remember all he did for us when I see him hit a three, even though it bites when he does that against us. I will even recognise that LeBron might be having another MVP-worthy year. That he's dominating the league. That there is hardly a player that can match up with him.

But in all of this, you've become less of a place where basketball was discussed, and more of a place where silly fans throw their curses at other teams. Where all sense of reality has gone out of the window. Whether it has made some of you become less classy, or it came with all the new-found Miami fans: something is missing.

Where have you gone, Peninsula?

(ps.: no offence to the people that *did* hold the ford, and still add great wit, knowledge and class to the blog.)

Thanks for spelling their names right

One of yours showed up with the Lebum bs btw. People respond to a game they are watching; Rondo hangs around a Heat huddle—I think someone should give him a shove (I said slap in the thread), but I did not see anything wrong with that. KG gives dirty hits from time to time imo and I’m not alone here or elsewhere—some Heat fans don’t like him, but they don’t show up to CB to express this. I don’t. Wade defends his player by giving KG a good hard box out—and he takes offense and maybe there is a fight (people respond).

But the main thing is, it is a gamethread and the cussing during the thread was kept to a minimum; I use bleep for the most part. Why do your care so much what Heat fans think about the Heat on a Heat blog? or the Celtics for that matter? I don’t especially like the C’s but again I’m not showing up at CB to express that (trolling imo). If you have looked at any post I have made there, you will see I’ve always been respectful in regard to your C’s.

If you show up when things are not going the Heat’s way or after the Heat lose, guess what, you might find some hostility expressed toward the other team—THIS IS A HEAT BLOG.

Here is the guy with the Lebum comment Kiorric (the guy above, Mighty C's)

No one from here talked trash on your blog that I’m aware of and if they did they were wrong for that and there is no need for him to show up later to retaliate (if they did so and were disrespectful that is; I wasn’t, but he chose to respond to me)—whatever I said was over here. I said the Celtics sucked before KG to another Heat fan—he responds with the Lebum comment; it was not directed at him—he said adios, so, he should be a man of his word. Now he shows up with more insults—Hey, you are a mod Kiorrick, how do you feel about one of your own showing up with more insults on someone else’s blog after doing it before—is that classy?

Pat yourself on the back, troll. I’m sure Kiorric does not approve of this.

I did not feed him much if at all--once in the gamethread after he responded to me...

and here for Kiorrick who is a mod at CB. I’m sure if a Heat fan showed up at CB to cause problems, he/she would be called a troll a couple of times before a mod stepped in. That being said, there have been a lot of Celtic fans who have come over to talk b-ball and argue legitimate points as you say without resorting to bs.

Trolls be gone!

This is a Heat blog. I don’t go on the Celtics blog to start a trash-talking frenzy. No one here does. Typical example of classless Bostonians flexing their muscle. Go away!!!

I'm not trash-talking.

Somewhere, somehow, my point got blurred. I’m just saying that your great posts are lost amongst half of the “other” posts.

I respect Peninsulaismightier a whole lot. I loved the team you had last year, and I kind of miss “the way it was”. I can see how this fan-post comes across as trolling but I assure you that my intend is nothing of that kind.

In the game of basketball, the only thing I love more than the Cletics, is the game itself. That used to come first for most people here as well. Right now though, I think it’s starting to come second for a lot of people.

But it’s quite understandable that you think I’m a troll. I carry my Celtics-ness proudly so that will certainly get in the way of my message; especially after a recent loss.

No offense, guys :)

I don't think you are a troll that is

Some are, but you are not—neither are Sizzlack, LeoMoreno, totheights, celticinorlando who are other C’s fan for example who have posted over here without the intent to just stir things up and were here to talk b-ball, ect. I think gamethreads are tough to judge is all—people watching are emotionally invested and when things are not going well, it is hard to shift gears, but if the commentator from the opposing team post without trying to stir things up, I think for the most part he/she will be received OK over at PiM or almost any place.

We had a Pacer fan show last night who joined the thread without a problem and when I looked in on their thread, there was some hate for the Heat and complains about fouls—but this is all good and right where it needs to be and when I posted over there to say good game, it did not bother me at all in the sense that I needed to respond.

If i may

i dont think kiorrik is actually criticizing what it means to be a troll, but more of perhaps the content of the blog and its comments…although i never actually visited this blog pre-big 3 so i dont know exactly how it was before.

If i had a major complaint about this blog, it might be that it often seems more closed to the entire nba than most other blogs. I think it might just be because this is one of the small blogs on sbn (in terms of contribution) and i dont know if it used to be a lot bigger. There really isnt much on this site except for the gamethreads, the very nicely done post game threads, and videos, fanshots, and fanposts that show highlights, or boast “take that haters”. I dont mean such things should be excluded, but its sort of a shame to only find that on this blog. I liked the few posts that talked about each divisions in the nba and broke them down a bit, but its been awhile since another one of those posts.

While unintentional, for some people who lurk on this site, and all they see is highlights of lebron and wade, take that hater posts, and gamethreads in which you are either winning and celebrating, or blaming refs, coaches, or just your own players poor play, it creates a sense of arrogance about this blog (not individuals, but those individuals get lumped together within the community of the blog).

This doesnt mean you have to change anything, cuz afterall this is your blog and your team and you have every right to celebrate such as you wish. I think for people like me who like to visit other teams blogs, its not just to troll (there are people that do though) but its to maybe see what the other team thought of your team, or what other teams fanbases thing about some of the news thats floating around the league. For example, do miami fans think they started a fad by aquiring the big 3, and what do you think are the effects such, what do you think of the whole Melo trade fiasco, how scary does blake griffen seem, is durant allowed to be mentioned in the same breath as lebron james, etc.

Also some of the bigger quotes that the media likes to spin about your team are often lost in some gamethread here. for example when asik dived into bosh’s leg, bosh came out with some comments, I came to this site and those comments werent discussed at all (or hidden in some gamepost) and its a shame cuz i would like to know what your fanbase thinks about some of the news reels or accusations made about your team and players.

Again im not imploring you to change your ways, whatever works for you on your blog is fine…i dont know if kiorrik feels the way i do, but this is just my thoughts and observations on your blog. If you consider this trolling i apologize. For what its worth this blog seems to be a little bit more accepted to other visitors and criticisms lately, so thats good, i also think the biggest problem is that there arent that many contributors on this site, and that really reduces the amount of content and open mindedness that some of the bigger blogs (celtics blog blogabull blazers edge, rufus on fire, silver screen and roll, slc dunk etc) have.

Again i apologize if this seemed trollish behavior…and i welcome any dissenting arguments

I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

You are welcome and not trolling

There is a lot of hate for the Heat out there (we have been over this and I have with others but I don’t get the hate past the Cleveland fans or Toronto fans—I don’t want to go over it now btw)—you hate the Heat for instance and have stated it here, so, I think that is where the defensiveness starts, but as long as you show up without spelling players names wrong or without other bs (Heat suck or I hate the cHeats or what MC was doing up there) I think you will be received just fine. If LBJ and Bosh had joined up with Rose, the Bulls would be in the same position and I’m sure a lot of Bulls fans would be fine with that. If mighty C’s up there showed up at Blog o Bull with that, people would respond—he got a lot of negative responses at SS&R btw when he went there (Both Bigger Blogs).

I lurk/post at SS&R and post sometimes at CB and even Blog o Bull (bigger blogs) and there is plenty of complaining about refs and hate for teams there, hate for their own players, cussing, ect.—plenty of hate for the Heat (they have a post now at CB about the funny faces of LeBron as we speak) and I have no problem with it—it’s there blog, but I have posted at CB and have been received just fine.

I look at the gamethreads like I would be at a game—I respond to the play—cussing is to be kept to a minimum so I use bleep even and try not to do it that much.

For example, do miami fans think they started a fad by aquiring the big 3, and what do you think are the effects such, what do you think of the whole Melo trade fiasco, how scary does blake griffen seem, is durant allowed to be mentioned in the same breath as lebron james, etc.

Just show up an ask. I think the better players will not wait around anymore or for as long as they have—younger players like Dwight, CP3, Durant, Rose, and even Blake Griffin in time may not play out contracts if things are not moving twoard a championship for their teams respectively. For once though, it will not only be the Lakers and Celtics where these players collectively decide to join up in their prime. Melo will get out of Denver for the reasons above for example.
