Miami Heat training camp injury update

The first injury of training camp didn't take long to happen, but thankfully it's a minor one. New Heat center Eddy Curry tweaked a muscle near his groin over the weekend and had to sit out the teams first scrimmage on Sunday night. The injury is being called a ‘minor tweak' and shouldn't keep the big fella sidelined very long. Even Curry downplayed the injury:

"We're just kind of going day by day, just trying to make sure that this is right so I don't have any setbacks, and I'm working hard in the weight room, and looking forward to getting back out there."

We can only hope that this injury remains as minor as its being made out to be. Curry has had a hard time getting into games over the past few years. Over the last three seasons, he has only played in a total of 10 games due to injuries and weight problems. The latter shouldn't be an issue as Curry has dedicated himself to losing weight, dropping 70lbs since he last played in the NBA a couple of years ago.

In other Heat injury news, both Eddie House and Mike Miller have been shooting on the side but won't be able to return to practice for a few weeks still. House, who had his knee scoped on November 1st, is expected to return around Christmas. Miller is coming off of hernia surgery and thinks that he will play in his first game this season sometime in mid-January.

While they aren't running or jumping yet, I watched them both shooting 3-pointers the other day and were knocking them down like it was nothing. If both House and Miller can be healthy and contribute this season, the Heat looks to be even more dangerous from downtown then last year. Adding Shane Battier and a healthy Mike Miller to the mix, along with House and James Jones, should be a nice compliment to the already dynamic game of the Big 3.

Season Tix

I’m selling my season tickets for cheap this year because I had to relocate for my job… See my ebay listing here: http://bit.ly/tX0CKw

Would much rather have them go to a fellow fan that some broker.

Although I feel we have just about enough

I’m kind of pissed we didn’t pick up a REAL big. Pittman doesn’t look like he’ll ever be ready. He committed about 17 fouls In 5 on 5’s. _

Time will tell

but this particlar injury doesn’t worry me much. What I am concerned about is guys getting hurt and having virtually NO TIME to heal with this abbreviated schedule. If the League wanted to kick-off on Christmas Day—which makes sense financially—there still should have only been 50 games. Those 50 could have been spread out to avoid so many back-to-backs and ALL of the back-to-back-to-backs. This is going to be ugly. The team that is the healthiest and actually makes the Playoffs will be the favorite to win it all.
