Simple: Bring us Jason Williams and let's start playing basketball!

As reported by Benny Vargas...

Another Taste of White Chocolate? Jason Williams Courted by Miami Heat By Benny Vargas ORLANDO, FL - JANUARY 22: Jason Williams #44 of the <a class='sbn-auto-link' href= Sam Greenwood/Getty Images

Jason Williams may be Miami bound. At least he will be if Mike Miller or Dwyane Wade have anything to do about it.

First, Wade was reported a week ago as having informed Heat management that he wanted to see Williams return. Wade and Williams were the starting Heat back court in 2006 when they won the title.

Now, Miller stated on his Twitter account that he would "love to have him. We'll see what happens." This came after Miller apparently had spoken to Williams about joining him on the Heat. Miller, who is close to Williams because of their Florida Gators connection, may be tipping Miami's hand.

It seems that everyone that has been courted, has subsequently received a contract offer by the Heat. This may very well be Miami's counter to missing out on Derek Fisher.

With options dwindling, the Heat should look to act quickly.

Keyon Dooling signed a two year $4.1 million dollar contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, eliminating a possible return in Miami for the Fort Lauderdale native.

Williams would give the Heat a capable ball handler and former playmaker. While his game doesn't have the flash it once did, Jason is still a solid contributor on offense. He can run the attack and create scoring opportunities with his passing abilities.

The two big knocks against Williams coming back to the Heat are his age and his defense. While Williams did help Miami during the 2005-2006 season, his game seemed to slip the following year.

Williams spent 2008-2009 out of the league, then made a return with Orlando, serving as Jameer Nelson's back up. In this years playoffs he struggled guarding Rajon Rondo. Then again, who didn't?

Regardless, it looks like a reunion may be in the works. Miami figures to be looking to sign either Williams or Carlos Arroyo, with Allen Iverson as a big long shot.

Another potential Heat target seems to also be off the board, as Matt Barnes is apparently headed to Toronto. With Barnes off the market, the chances increase of Miami making a play for either Tracy McGrady or Jerry Stackhouse

I love how you don't give up on this Kenny

It’s my major concern as well too. Bring him along and DO IT QUICKLY BEFORE HE’S GONE!

Yea boy

My man Kenny at work – is J Will paying you dude? Just kidding – he’s my number one too!! NOW is the prime word of that article!!

Yes...

There has been too much talk about this for it not to happen. Can you imagine J Will running loose with Bosh deep and being winged by James and Wade on a fast break????

Keep it up Mr. Powers – I’m all in it for the J Will talk

Kenny – can you drop him a few bucks to make this happen?? jk – but really….? The Heat needs this!

Damn boys/girls

that was quick – now go vote!!! MAYBE someone out there is paying attention to us fans!!??!!

by Kenny F'ing Powers on Jul 21, 2010 3:14 PM EDT reply actions

Goodness

We get it already…you guys want J-Will…but in all honesty all your spamming has made me want him less. Since this site’s popularity has dramatically increased, I believe the mods should write up a ‘PIM Guideline’ to prevent all this redundancy (especially with all these fanposts).

by Tetris on Jul 21, 2010 4:16 PM EDT reply actions

Ahhhhh

Did someone have a hard day? Poor Tetris… nothing better to do than post that which he is complaining about!

Good that “You” get it, but “We”, as in the proverbial “We = The Heat”, do NOT get it already or he would be signed, hence the desire for Kenny to continue to express his opinion, along with all of us that have posted herein, to put the “We” that eludes both you and me on notice that we know what WE want here.

That's why they are "fanposts"

I’ve been registered as a Heat fan on this site for more than a year longer than you. Plus ‘seriously’ why are you resorting to name-calling…?

If we need JWill so bad

He would already be on the roster. Instead of alot of fans trying to tell Pat Riley who is best for this team. Its crazy i like JWill but he has no D point blank i would like to see him on the team but i wouldn’t cry about it if he wasn’t. And if he such all this that everyone is talking about why is he still a Free Agent? And lets quit all this talk about we really need dude if anything he need the Heat!!!!!!!! I understand he is loved by alot of heat fans but enuff is enuff. I want to see the best team on the court and us winning it all this year

by Dirtyt80 on Jul 21, 2010 4:50 PM EDT reply actions

agreed

J-will is irrelevant at this point. with Arroyo back with Chalmers their is no room for J-will. even if he’s signed he wont see the court in with the first team as the 3rd pg. we need players that can go both ways, not just offense.

by HALO_86 on Jul 21, 2010 10:21 PM EDT up reply actions

WRONG AGAIN

We need a 3rd PG, period. This isn’t like the video games here Halo – we need bench depth even if those players are the ones teaching or mentoring from the bench. This is how real life basketball works, not NBA2K.

by Kenny F'ing Powers on Jul 22, 2010 8:20 AM EDT up reply actions

I disagree

we don’t need 3 PG’s. Especially when our crunch-time lineup probably won’t include any of them. PG’s are not essential to this team because our 2 stars are both ball-handlers and both capable of running point for extended stretches. We aren’t putting together a traditional team with traditional lineups, we can very easily have a lineup of guys 6’8 or taller, we can have a lineup of all big shooters, we can go with a fast break lineup, there’s a million things we can do without a PG that negates the need for three of them IMO

at least 2 true point guards are needed. 3 is recommended but not needed. You should have 3 guys who at least CAN play the point…the third is lebron who can play the point in pinch situations and so can Wade. With guys like wade and Lebron who can have spot minutes at point, 3 point guards is less necessary. Still, I think it would be better to see Hasbrouck on this team over J Will for a few reasons.

Hasbrouck is younger and has more potential. Hasbrouck is also a much better shooter averaging 47-48% from 2 points in college and over 56% from inside the arc in the games he played in the D League last year. He also averaged 37% from 3 in college and 38% in the D league. He is a natural scorer who takes good shots and has a great stroke and can shoot from anywhere. He is a very good defender and is improving his passing. He is in some ways similar (in skill set) to Arenas.

Tetris said it best 3 post we all know yall want him on the team but its up to Pat

And in Pat I trust!!!! To make the right moves for this team to bring a championship to this team. but it is wat it is Heat all the way if JWill on the Heat or not

by Dirtyt80 on Jul 21, 2010 5:07 PM EDT reply actions

He already has 80, that's why we still push.

Miami is unbeatable now, so let the fans that know what they want the opportunity to be heard.

Williams, Iverson, T-Mac, Stackhouse – none will make a true championship impact; the team has what it needs, so let the J Will fans be heard.

I love J Will, you love J Will – hell, about 250 members of this site love him according to the votes in all 3 polls. Let the haters hate and sit back and chill Undaunted. He will come. And like I said above, the team is already completed – even with Arroyo on as of today – the only 3 we need to worry about are here.

J Will is just “Our” Icing!!!

I agree with you that the “lol” and smiley faces are annoying, but what if Tetris really is a teenage girl texting her thoughts to this post? HA!

by Metro Dade Vice on Jul 21, 2010 5:36 PM EDT reply actions

Don't get mad cuz you guy over hype JWill way to much

He is good on the O side but can’t hold water on the other end. You have your thoughts on him just like I do. But he is not the missing player to us winning it all he would be on the team for the ride doing his small part like everyone else. And you coming at mad because its true like i said you have your thoughts just like i have mine. Get off JWill if Pat see fit to have him on the roster then so be it but until then let it go with what the people want. Its peoples in Hell who want water the fact is we all don’t get everything we want in life. So if he is on the roster I’ll be happy and if not I’m not going to cry about it

by Dirtyt80 on Jul 21, 2010 5:43 PM EDT reply actions

Dirty, that is a lot of rambling.

I think we know where both you, myself and the rest of this crew stands.

by Kenny F'ing Powers on Jul 21, 2010 5:51 PM EDT reply actions

its not rambling

its reaction to your constant post and replies about J-will, some of us are sick of it, thats all you write about, he isn’t going to push us over to a championship. we will win regardless of this guy, if he signs i’m sure Arroyo and Chalmers will be ahead of him.

by HALO_86 on Jul 21, 2010 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Halo 86

Obviously you don’t read my posts. I have never made the assertion that he is what is “going to push us over a championship”, and I have long conceded the fact that he is a mentor/teacher; thus resulting in his 3rd or 2nd string role.

Ok

He’s 34 AND left Miami under bad terms. He had a GREAT year last year and has more basketball knowledge than any other PG left in free agency.

Don’t bother replying since you said you wouldn’t.

by Undaunted on Jul 22, 2010 10:27 AM EDT reply actions

ehhh…He had a great year when asked to do little and to just stand open and shoot while the D payed attention to the good bench rotation of Orlando. He had one of his best shooting seasons, but he is 34. This season compared to other numbers of his is more of an aberration. It is not at all realistic to expect him to shoot anywhere close to the numbers he shot last year. Even career average may be slightly optimistic, because for every career season, comes a bad season. He is 34 and overpaying him now is just asking him to fail almost.

Instead of worrying about getting 3 point guards or getting guys in Free Agency, how about only carrying 2 point guards, 2 combo guards, and a point forward. There’s already the 2 PGs, the Point Forward is Lebron and D-Wade is a combo guard. How about putting Hasbruck on the roster? He can play either guard spot and in this offense, and is a MUCH better shooter than J-Will

73%

That’s the percentage of respondents who are in favor of bringing J-Dubb back and into a Heat uniform. Winning is often about the intangibles. If D-Wade wants him, I want him. I trust Dwyane’s opinion here more than anyone else with the team (with the possible exception of one Pat Riley) or here on peninsula is mightier. I don’t need to worry about Jason’s age, FG percent, etc. Wade wants him. That’s all I need to know.

Just cuz we want Williams doesnt mean we are whining.

We do need to fill out the rest of the roster and thats who some of us want. I have to say though when you or anybody else comes in here generalizing is something nobody likes. So how about you learn not to do that and learn how to speak with other people who have different views than you. You must like to stir up trouble.

J-Will

With alertness and quickness of James and Wade, J-Will may provide fast break and surprising pass with relatively secured reception for final execution and the points wanted.

It should be even more efficient/flourishing game compared with the offensive link between J-Will and Weber at their King time which still remind me of fun of basketball play. And, then, have to wish alertness/quickness of J-Will himself is not weaken along with age, at least not yet.

I used to like Weber’s game a lot, but he is not as quick and powerful as James, also not as tricky as Wade who never let known what is his next step.

Can not wait to see J-Will’s rejoining.
