Heat exercise option on Mario Chalmers
The Heat made their first official move of the offseason when they exercised their team option on guard Mario Chalmers. He joins Michael Beasley and Daequan Cook as the only players Miami has locked up for the 2010-11 season, but as far as I'm concerned you can add Dwyane Wade to that list as well.
Chalmers is due to make around $850,000 next season while Cook will make a cool $2.1 million after making $1.3 last year to do essentially nothing, at least nothing that made any difference for his team on the court. I'm looking at both of these guys to have better seasons, but for Cook that really won't take much. Beasley is due just under $5 million. Worth it? Not if he has a year similar to his first two in the NBA, but if that's the case then he joins a long list of guys who make waaay more then they're worth. Let's just hope he breaks out and we never have to discuss this again.

Even at current production, $850K is cheap for Mario – I’m hoping for big things from him though it is still a good move to lock him in at that price to appraise him for another year…

This kid has a load of talent
but i think he is a two guard.
I think off the bench he will become a great playmaker for us if we just limit his responsibilities and let him play free.
