Different ways the Heat can go during free agency
We all know Pat Riley wants to build a dynasty and most know he has the know how in making it all happen. All he has to do if use a little bit of his what I call " Riles magic" to persuade the players he craves. The biggest question of all is how can this all be accomplished within the salary cap? One way is by bringing in two max players and what I call a "reduced max player" being a player willing to take a hit in pay.
Another way is using a team by way of sign and trade by shipping out a player such as Michael Beasley and taking another team to add on baggage by absorbing another contract. There are other scenarios that can be accomplished by mixing players and choosing which you are willing to part with. To be honest there are possibly more than ten different ways this team could be built but we are not going begin to explain every single one because we would be here all night if we did.
Lets say if we decided to make all our free agents available with the exception of Wade and find a team under the cap that can take on D-Cook's $2mil+, Beasley's almost $5mil and say you throw our 1st round pick in exchange for compensation that wouldn't affect the cap until next year like a 2011 or 2012 draft pick. In reality we can't really give up Beasley for cheap unless we can make sure what we can get within cap space but it would have to be substantial.
If we were to give up all our free agents except for D-Wade then that deal D-Cook/the 1st pick/Beas move would leave us with close to $7mil committed past D-Wade's cap hit. J-Jones $2mil buyout would almost require some team to pick up his contract before free agency begins but its more than likely that its not gonna happen. Super Mario is still on rookie pay at around $850k or so and then we have Joel who is making almost the same amount if he opts in with his players option, you add the require cap hits to fill the roster which would be around $3.4 mil for about seven players.
Now if we go by the cap, which sits around $56mil, that would leave us with about $49mil to spend for next season. We might as well go ahead and subtract the almost $17mil D-Wade is gonna get, which then leaves us with about $32mil to play with. If we were to get lets say LeBron and Bosh to play here, their max deals would be about a mil over the $32mil we would have left. To make that happen then we must deal Super Mario and Joel on top of some other moves to get some breathing room.
If we were to try to make a LeBron, Amare combination it would be well over $50mil and would mean that one of them would have to accept a pay cut which would prob be unlikely to make it under the cap.
If we were to ship out Beas, D-Cook and the 1st pick but keep Super Mario and Joel we would have almost $50mil to play with. Then we could go with say Bosh and Joe Johnson would be around $49mil.
If we were to ship out Beas, D-Cook and the 1st pick but keep Super Mario and Joel, then we could go with Bosh and Rudy Gay that's if Memphis doesn't match an offer sheet. This would keep us around $46mil or go with a Joe Johnson/Booz combo would keep us around $48mil. But we or lets say I prefer Bosh or Amare over Booz any day of the week. If we were to go and try sign and trades would give us more room to play but we don't have anyone worth any thing except of in reality D-Wade. At the end of the day the most realistic deal would be an Amare, JJ combo in the event we cant get LeBron to sign here.
At the end of all the madness that is of free agency by bringing in 3 high quality stars. Then we would have to fill out the rest of the team with minimum players like keeping Arroyo, Jamaal, Super Mario and Joel...maybe even Raja. For those who would be asking how does Udonis fit into all of this well sadly he doesn't because he would be demand too much to be able make a 3-star rotation happen.

Hmm
2010-2011 is the redeem season for the heat
starting 5:Pat Beverley,Wade,Joe Johnson,Stoudemire,Haywood
bench: Chalmers,Raja Bell, Antoine Wright,2nd round draft pick power forward,Joel Anthony,Kenny Hasbrouck,Magloire
Money, money, money
Either route the Heat takes they’ll have to cough up a couple of —→$$$‘s. Right now I would like to see Wade get resigned, Beasley get shipped out(Too inconsistent), and we can get rid of Oneal(Too much of a gamble to take if we’re going to start a dynasty some time soon. :])

Just out of curiosity
Who is “The One that Wears the Crown”?
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
Not really sure what you're trying to ask
Are you trying to ask “Who am I” as a person err a “Who are you?” type of question or are asking “Who wears the Crown?”(And is it just out of curiosity or is something else involved in asking that question?)

No ulterior motive
I’m just curious if you’re referencing a particular person or player wearing the crown.

Oh..
It’s the meaning of my last name.

Random thoughts here.
I also feel that after this summer’s trades are done. the Heat’s going to have to work hard throughout the years to maintain the dynasty. Like maybe in a few years time, find some good young players to continue this dynasty.
Good point
That’s something Pat Riley mentioned. He said that you have to add a piece at a time over the years to build a true dynasty.

Win-lose situation
Assuming best case scenario we get James + Bosh we potentially have the best 2-3-4 lineup ever assembled but we would have no PG or C probably the two most important positions on the floor. The only move that makes this scenario feasible would be shifting Wade to the 1 and starting a Raja Bell or Q rich at the minimum for the SG. Also, our bench would be disastrous and full of d-leaguers and nobodies. If by some mircale they acquire all their max free agents by sign and trade, they will be able to resign all their players and have a decent not great bench.
That's why this process will take more than a year
Next year’s team will likely boast a really good starting five but little depth, unless some really good role players are willing to come and play for minimum salaries.

I guess it's really tough on the management.
We have a few really good role players like (Haslem and D-wright) that we can try to resign. One of the questions I’ve constantly been wondering about is the pg position. Cause we can’t possibly get back both Arroyo and Chalmers. If johnson signs, either him or wade can play the 1.
If thats the way then I guess we may be like the Lakers, there won’t be a true PG. But that’s fine by me. Cause either of those guys can pass and score on their own.
If Wade's not going to play the 1
there needs to be a calm, Derek Fisher-type playing the spot who takes care of the ball and can make open shots. Fisher himself, Luke Ridnour, and Steve Blake will all be on the market and all fit the bill.
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
I think going into this year
that is what Riley imagined. D cook and chalmers stepping up and solidifying that 1 spot as shooters who can control the ball. This team doesn’t need a rondo type (even though that would be amazing), it needs a fisher/house type of player like you say. Felton is definitely not the solution. Hate to look back and say woulda coulda shoulda but Mayo would be a perfect fit going into next year
You also need a guy who
is satisfied being the fourth or fifth option. Mayo is not that guy. He’s also not a spot up shooter. He’s a rythm guy, and he needs touches. He and Wade could have worked together, but the team would have needed to have been built around them as dominant guards—which totally would not have been a bad thing. As for Chalmers/Cook, I just can’t see them holding that down. They could grow into a great combo off the bench, but neither is starting quality on the team Riley is trying to build.

Good point.
I’m fine with the idea of having a calm PG who can at least hold on to the ball. Btw, I just saw the draft order. Are we having 4 picks in this draft or did I happened to see it wrongly?? Number 18, 41 (from NO), 42 (from TOR) and 48.
So I guess this will also be crucial to us in the upcoming off-season trades? We can use some of this drafts to work out a trade or sth right?
I think we have 3
One in the first round and two in the second, but either way, you’re exactly right about them coming into play with trades. Pat Riley has stated that he’s looking to build through free agency and trades rather than the draft. Look for draft picks to be used in sign-and-trades, especially if Beasley gets moved.
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
If we use the salary cap on mostly max contracts the draft picks could be some cheap bench relief – still need to fill the roster…
The only thing is
you can’t have a contending squad with a bunch of rookies as the key reserve players.
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
You were right
We have three 2nd Rounders for a total of four picks.
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
Didn't mean chalmers and cook will hold it down
I was referring to what Pat riley probably envisioned.
I think Pat is really unpredictable with his moves.
Just hope that this time he really creates a team that can last for quite a while.
I also wonder what he will want to do with Cook. Give him another year to prove himself?
He'll definitely build a winner for the future
It’ll just be really interesting to see how he goes about it. He’ll definitely do it his way. I trust that he’ll do what’s in the best interst of the team—both long- and short-term. The only time he’s leveraged the future of the team was when he got Shaq (which was an opportunity you couldn’t pass up at the time. Shaq was angry and motivated at the time) to maximize a short Championship window. Other than that he’s made really sound moves in free agency and trades.

Sorry, I missed that
It was the first part of your comment, but I got so excited about the rest of what you said I didn’t notice that. My bad.
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
Keep young core...
Beasley, Chalmers, Cook, Dozier, Beverley, Hasbrouck should remain on the roster.
Resign Haslem, Wright, Richardson, Anthony
Ask Wade, James, And Bosh to sign for less money to allow more pieces to the championship puzzle! This will seperate the rings from the dollars!
Sign Bell. Sign Haywood.
Draft Center prospects with all picks and let them battle out for starter then ship the rest overseas and let them grow. ( I like Alabi or Whiteside )
PG: Chalmers, Beverley, Hasbrouck
SG: Wade, Bell, Cook,
SF: James, Richardson, Wright
PF: Bosh, Beasley, Haslem, Dozier
C : Haywood, Anthony, Alabi
bye bye Arroyo for not passing to Beasley on pick and rolls!!!!!!
Novel concept about the the guys taking a little less money
I’ve been wondering for some time now who might leave a little $ on the table to help the team build a better winner. I’ve heard a couple of people raving about Pat Beverly. Is he playing that well overseas? Also, I find it hard to believe Hasbrouck is a piece for the future since he didn’t get in that New Jersey game at the end that Coach Spoelstra was trying to throw without making it too obvious—unless the organization just wants to keep him under wraps to keep other teams away from him.
Lastly, Wade/James/Bosh will not be possible unless Michael Beasley is traded because they may take a small discount, but they ain’t gonna leave that much money on the table. For the above scenario to work Haslem would have to re-sign for near the minimum, and I don’t see him doing that either. He’ll get $8 million per (3 or 4 years) on the open market easy.
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
Hmmm
To get Blake, Felton,Ridnour would require MLE.
We have to sign Brendan Haywood for the MLE.
We have a draft pick from last year Pat Beverley(remember him) who can be our point guard.
Or the D League star Kenny Hasbrouck.
Have them both play in summer league and see who best fits our style of play.
I say take Bosh over Amare Lazymire!
Bosh has a better feel for the ball, can get his own shot, can pass, can even hit threes and is a hell of a rebounder aswel as gets blocks.
Get some idiot GM to take Beasley,Cook and our 1st round draft pick for nothing to give us more space to sign Joe Johnson as he would like to come and does not care about being the man.
As for the bench I would assume Chalmers is resigned as his contract is cheap and Joel Anthony will exercise his player option. Magloire should be resigned cause you can never have too much size.
2010-2011 redeem heat:
Beverley or Hasbrouck,Wade,Joe Johnson,Bosh,Haywood
bench:Chalmers,Raja Bell,Antoine Wright,Shavlik Randolph,Joel Anthony,Magloire,2nd round draft picks
I've seen Antoine Wright's name a couple of times around here
Do you mean Dorell or are you saying pick up Antoine in a sign-and-trade for Bosh? As for the mid-level exception, I’ve been told it only comes into play when the team is already at the cap limit and allows them to sign a player without going into the luxury tax. Because we are so far under the cap, it is my understanding that we won’t get a mid-level this offseason.

everyone..
talks about gettting a wing player, when a bosh/davidlee tandem for our frontcourt would be filthy considering bosh and lee are 26 each! lee would come cheap at like 10 million a year and has roots here in florida.
wade,bosh,lee > kobe, gasol,bynum
just sayin..

Depending on the offensive system used
Bosh and Lee could be a deadly frontcourt duo offensively, but they are big liabilities defensively (if they’re on the floor together). Plus, Lee is more of a true PF, so if either of those guys comes to play the 4, we need a defensive-minded (and capable) center to anchor the defense.

there..
are none, unless we get kaman. which is unlikely :,(

Kaman's not even a defensive center
Haywood (Brendan) will be the best available in free agency. Then there’s Ben Wallace and Kwame Brown who will also be free agents.
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
Makes me wonder what will happen to the mavs.
I will prefer Brendan Haywood too but the PF position should be okay with Beasley and Haslem? (If he resigns) Give Beasley one more year before a final decision.
By the way, random but, have you guys seen John wall? He impresses me a HELL LOT.
Beasley just might snap out of it--whatever 'it' is--next season
but we can’t take that chance with four All-Star caliber power forwards being available right now.

possible
lots of players breakout there 3rd year
