Jason Williams joins Shaq in bashing 2006 Heat title squad
On the heel end of a pretty crazy week for the Miami Heat, now we have a couple former Heat players coming out and blasting the championship team of 2006. That's right...apparently our ‘team of destiny' was more a team of lazy luck, with guys who played the part of basketball player at just the right time while still jumping on the back of Dwyane Wade after crapping the bed during the first two games of the NBA Finals.
This all began earlier this week when Sports Illustrated came out with an article in which Shaquille O'Neal blasted his former team, saying that during their title run of ‘06 the Heat were very unprofessional and had a poor work ethic. That didn't really faze me because Shaq has always been a very immature person and stuff like that coming from him doesn't surprise me in the least.
But earlier today Michael Wallace posted a blog that touched on the same thing that Shaq was talking about. Wallace caught up with for Heat and current Magic point guard Jason Williams, who is preparing for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Williams was asked to compare his current team to the Heat back in 06, and here is what he had to say:
"We weren't as focused when we won the championship in 2006. I can say that. I was there. I saw it. I was at the shootarounds, all the practices and stuff. Don't get me wrong. We got the job done. But here (in Orlando), with every little thing, we're so focused."
"I didn't even know that was going to be a shot at the title. But I'll take it. D-Wade carried a lot of that slack."
Wallace reminded us of how things were back then, and the irony that Jason Williams and Shaq were probably the two most troublesome players on the team. Both were supposedly kicked out of practice on more then one occasion. Then there was that story about Shaq refusing to leave the practice floor and instead running at Pat Riley and having to be restrained by Alonzo Mourning. Keep in mind that none of this is actually confirmed, but part of the mystique of that team.
So yeah...a perfectly insane way to end this week of Miami Heat news. I wonder what next week will bring!

Wow..just wow.
I can’t believe Jason Williams out of all people would say such a thing. Well I shouldn’t known, during the regular season he did say that the Orlando Magic was the best team he has ever played for. It seems to forget where he got his first and only ring at. And Shaq..well he is just Shaq I would think that the older you get you would get more mature. First that “Superman” incident and now this. He has to sit down somewhere at a park, feed birds, and watch time go by instead of leeching off of the NBA.

Then again, he is entitled to his own opinion.

Oh really??
I don’t remember either of these two complaining back when Wade won them the title. Shaq used to be one of my favorite players but grow the fuck up ass clown. Maybe if he hadn’t burned every bridge every time he left a team – he could actually go back to one of them and ride off into the sunset in style. Oh and um as far as I know Orlando lost today in spite of their amazing focus and hard work and Shaq – where the hell are you now, what happened to the ring for the king?
Shaq has always been amazingly immature and selfish
I imagine that’s what happens when everybody kisses your ass and stokes your ego.

Yup.
Blog. Opinion. Mine.
But I’d love for you to prove me wrong and explain how Shaq isn’t immature and selfish. No sarcasm there, if you can do it then please do b/c I’d like to learn how I’m wrong about him.

Not focused?
Even though I do not understand why these guys are just talking now, nor do I believe there is a need to talk about that after 4 years, I only know that it is extremely difficult to win an NBA title without being truly focused. J-Will should know that by now having lost to the Celts on Game 1. I have a video of the entire Heat-Mavs final series and that was a hard-fought victory. Shaq had the King with him and could not even go beyond the semi-finals!!! So, I think they are simply trying to make news at the expense of others (Heat Family).
Irony?
Finals.

j will ain't shit
did a little research, long story short J will’s stats from the 2006 regular season vs. his 2006 playoffs were significantly different. if anyone on the team didn’t focus or work as hard to make that playoff run it was him.
Jason Williams 2006 regular season – PER of 15.0 (exactly the league average)
2006 playoff – PER of 10.9
While his minutes played went up in the playoffs, his pts per game went from 12.3 to 9.3 in the playoffs, assists went from 4.9 to 3.9, his 3 point percentage went from 37% in the regular season to 27% in the playoffs. Just a few points that i found interesting about the man who claims that his team wasn’t as focused as orlando is now, who is about to be swept
