Heat swingman Dorell Wright arrested for DUI
Dorell Wright was arrested early Thursday morning in Miami Beach for driving while under the influence. He would be released after posting bail but is likely to be suspended by the Heat. From the Sun Sentinel:
Dorell Wright was arrested in Miami Beach for driving under the influence of alcohol and knowingly driving with a suspended license, his second such offense.
Bond was set at $1,000 for each offense. Wright, who played 22 minutes in Wednesday night's 108-97 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers at American Airlines Arena, was stopped at 3:37 a.m. in his 2005 Bentley for erratic driving.
This does not help the Heat's team image. Point guard Carlos Arroyo was arrested on February 26th for driving too slow, failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest without violence. His case is still pending.
I wonder how much attention these problems are getting throughout the NBA, and if the Heat getting this sudden reputation as ‘troublemakers' could effect Dwyane Wade and his decision of whether or not to stick around after this season. I certainly hope not, and nobody should be more informed of this latest issue then Wade himself, as he and Dorell Wright are close friends off the court.
This is from Keebler's FanPost:
According to an arrest affidavit, an officer stopped Wright about 3:37 a.m. at 12th Street and Alton Road after spotting him speeding in his white, two-door Bentley. The officer wrote that Wright, 24, had red eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol.
Wright could not find his proof of insurance, knew he was driving on a suspended license and refused to submit to a sobriety test, according to the affidavit. Wright was booked at Miami's Pretrial Detention Center about 10 a.m and released just before noon on $2,000 bond.
Wright has played with the Miami Heat since the organization drafted him as an 18-year-old in 2004.

I never understand it
These guys make so much money, if your going to go out and party then hire a freaking driver to take you around and then back home. I know a lot of people get stopped but every now and then you get someone like Stallworth who kills somebody. Its just being completely irresponsible.
Go big or go home
and how difficult is to get a Taxi or just have asober friend drive your ass home?

Maybe...
Hopefully this is a wake-up call for him. We’ll see how he responds to this on and off the court.
Playing, coaching, and watching basketball.
No sympathy for rich athletes getting DUI...
..but I hope he realizes the error of his ways and that this incident doesn’t bump him out of the league next season, as he is a fringe player without a contract. He has always seemed like a good guy and even though I’m not a Heat fan, I’d like to see Wright live up to his on-court potential pretty much more than any player in the league
