Game #65: Los Angeles Clippers (25-39) vs. Miami Heat (32-32)

Use this post for your Open Game Thread

The timing is right for the Heat to put last nights distressing loss behind them.  Miami will kick off a 6-game homestand tonight against a Clippers team that has lost four straight games, each by at least 17 points.  L.A. will certainly be looking to turn their fortunes around against an inconsistent Heat team, which I'm sure is the approach the Clippers are taking.

The Heat should be chomping at the bit to get back out there after the way they blew last nights game in Charlotte.  The entire team struggled to get anything going offensively for most of the 2nd half, and nobody could pick up the slack when Dwyane Wade's productive game stopped being so productive late in the 3rd quarter.

The last time these teams played, Clippers center Chris Kaman has a very solid game, scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 boards.  The Heat has had issues dealing with centers that can shoot from the outside while pounding the paint, and Kaman is no exception.  Jermaine O'Neal can hold his own on both ends of the floor, but hopefully Joel Anthony can stay out of foul trouble because Kaman would likely have a field day against a sluggish Jamaal Magloire

GAME NOTES

  • The Heat and Clippers have spilt the last four games played between the two at the AAA.
  • With a win, the Clips will complete a season sweep over Miami for the first time since 2003-04.
  • Seven of the Heat's last ten games have been decided by 7 points or less.
  • L.A. could be without the services of guard Eric Gordon, who is listed as questionable with a leg injury.  He has already sat out the first two games of the Clips current 5-game road trip.
  • Both teams played last night, with the Clippers losing by 26 in Orlando.  The Heat is 4-10 on the 2nd night of b2b's while L.A. is 5-12.

Tipoff from the AAA will be at 7:30.  The Heat is still collecting used cell phones as part of a domestic violence initiative.  Free ticket vouchers will be given for donations.

Who's carrying the game?

Is it even on ESPN? They’ve got College ball on in my area, and NBA TV has the Pistons/Jazz on. Looks like I’ll have to keep up here and on Y! GameChannel…

Yea. We just need a strong close to the first half and then a solid second half—we cannot repeat last night’s 4th Q

Good sub gettin Wade back in the game

He can rest the final minute or so if we get the lead back up. Beasley should be back out their too. The Clips might be a good team to play small with Beasley at PF and Udonis at C. Haslem can body up on Kaman, although he would give up a good bit of height…

Q-Rich is dialed in

Stepped right back on the court and knocked down a big one.

Beasley's shooting a lot of jumpers

Sure he can shoot, but I’d like to see him get into the lane a little. Chalmers is getting some run tonight and looks good.

Butler can shoot the cover off the ball

He did it for us years ago. All he needs is open looks. It’s starting to look like I should have picked him up instead of Q-Rich in my Fantasy League. Q’s doing well for us though and I’ll take that.

magloire

not as athletically gifted in this point of his career but great effort and fire.
seems to get offended if someone else tires to get a rebound… even if there on his own team.

Surely Spo knows the Clips may have a run in them and is resting the 1-2 punch to be fresh for the final push—if needed. Plus the Clips just might lay down in the final minutes. Their franchise is in total disarray witht their coach and GM (the same guy) being fired recently.

Sterling is not known for making the best decisions, but Thornton is more of a PF who wants to be a SF, and they’re looking to Griffin to be their future. Plus the kid goes through stretches where he just looks like he doesn’t have a clue what to do on the basketball court.

we look good tonight. the defense could may have been a little lacking, but the Clips are very talented offensively, and it looks like we’re on our way to a win—barring something really bizarre.
