Heat recall Dexter Pittman from Sioux Falls of D-League
Earlier today the Miami Heat recalled rookie center Dexter Pittman from the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Developmental League. He was sent down on November 26th to start the D-League season with the Skyforce. After Pittman had a solid stint playing for the Heat's summer league team, he was sent to the D-League to refine his skills against the next level of talent instead of sitting at the end of the bench in Miami.
After three weeks in South Dakota apparently the Heat coaching staff are pleased with his progress because Pittman is returning to Miami and I have to assume it isn't just to ride the pine. Its probable that Erik Spoelstra will test him during the 4th quarter of games in which the result has already been decided, but after that you have to think that the sky is the limit for this young and talented ‘big guy'.
Pittman started all 8 games he played in for Sioux Falls, averaging 16.6 points on 60% shooting in 30.6 minutes. Add to that 9.0 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.1 assists and you've got a pretty well rounded stat line, though his free throw shooting still needs some work (51.9%). He had 15 or more points in 6 of his 8 games and recorded four double doubles.

If he plays with Inside toughness, defends and rebounds..........He will fill a huge need!
We are so soft inside and with a HUGE game looming verses the defending champs with three skilled 7fters we will need ALL the help we can get.

God...we have 5 middling centers on our roster
I love Magloire but I’m guessing he’s the odd man out. It’s funny because him and Dampier are the same player yet we now use Dampier quite often and never used Magloire his 3 years here when he was the far better option than Joel Anthony at those times
Wanna prove you are a true heatfan? Remind people you lived through the Mark Blount era
Dampier’s defense has been outstanding. That’s why he’s been getting so many minutes.

I have been watching the nab for a long time
and i have NEVER seen 5 centers on 1 team. I liked the person that Magloire is and so does Riley! thats why he is keeping him so he can try to get his ring. Next year we should be back to 2 or 3 centers. Im sure Big Z, howard, damp, and magloire will all be gone if they get a ring
LETS GO HEAT!!!!!!!
Joel Anthony is the man
Henne please don't be good be Great
Hmm
With that said the heat are really old in the middle.
Other than Pittman all the centers are over 30.
This is why we are the oldest team in the NBA.
We already have some of our key role players that are exactly at 30 or 31.
Guys that are not yet 30 are our big 3, Chalmers,Joel Anthony and Pittman.
Hopefully we sign DeAndre Jordan next season.
I don’t think they will trade Joel.

WOW.
This SOOOO does not coincide with my prediction in another thread. I expected the Heat to sign him in late March, which is the start of a 9 game stretch against sub par teams. Oh well…
Give BEAS (Peace, for all you slowheads) a chance ;)
Wesley Johnson is man crush worthy. But only when he's making shots.
Super Beas > You
Hmm
I expect Pittman to be a Shaq and Mourning fused together.
Obviously he has the height of Mourning and the size like Shaq/Perkins.
Seems defensive oriented.
All we need Pittman to give us is….8-10ppg, 8+ boards,2 blocks.
Let’s go Pittman!
Let’s go heat!
Miami Thrice is incredible....Heat Tri-nasty is inevitable!
That would be very pleased.
I saw him playing few times in limited times. But somehow I am feeling he will be good enough as you said becoming like Perkins type.
Something to prove II
ummm
Dwight Howard is Shaq and Zo fused together
the most we can hope for out of a 2nd round big man is a perkins or bynum
LETS GO HEAT!!!!!!!

I want him to be our big 4 piece.
The center we need to step up to become the force in the NBA.

I'm not expecting anything from him this year, but I am glad to hear he was playing so well. Good to have him back. I would have Zo working with him everyday. He is going to be very important down the road (if everything goes well)
