Big 3 combine for 76 points as Heat cruise past Wizards
The Heat did exactly what they needed to do on Monday night at the AAA, come out focused, play hard and execute. Doing all that, Miami was able to come away with a nice 105-94 victory over the Washington Wizards. You could tell that the team was really pushing in the early stages of the game, turning the ball over a few times while trying to find their rhythm.
Dwyane Wade had a very rough go of it in the 1st half, shooting just 1-for-7 and scoring 4 points. He hurt himself going up for a dunk when he was hit on the wrist, and had to briefly come out of the game. The Heat called Wade's injury a hangnail issue, and Dwyane came back into the game with a bandage over his right thumbnail.
Wade took things over for a while during the 3rd quarter, looking like the dominant D-Wade that Heat fans have grown accustomed to seeing in recent years. He scored 15 points in just 6:17, making 4-of-5 from the field and hitting all 7 of his free throws in that span.
It was another solid game for the Big 3, with each one reaching the 20-point plateau. LeBron led the way with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, hitting 9-of-11 from the charity stripe. D-Wade finished with 26 points, 8 boards and 6 assists. He also went a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line. Chris Bosh had a rough shooting night, making just 5-of-14, but he still managed 20 points and 7 boards.
Tempers flared up late in the 3rd quarter when Joel Anthony was pushed in the side by Hilton Armstrong while attempting to finish on what should've been a gimmie dunk. Anthony went flying to the floor and Armstrong was immediately pushed to the floor by Juwan Howard. There was a little pushing and shoving afterwards but nothing more would happen.
Armstrong and Howard would be ejected, with Armstrong getting issued a Flagrant-2 for his foul on Anthony. That wasn't the end of the physical play though. A few minutes later with about 8 minutes left in the game, James Jones and Kirk Hinrich got in each others faces while Jones defended Hinrich on the perimeter. Both would get called for technical fouls.
Overall this was the focused, physical and hard-nosed game that Erik Spoelstra was hoping for out of his team. They are searching for an identity and in need of wins, and last night they put their hard hats on and went to work against an overmatched team in the Wizards.
GAME NOTES
- This was the first time Miami scored 100+ points in their last 7 games.
- Carlos Arroyo came back to earth, missing both of his shot attempts and finishing with 0 points.
- James Jones hit a pair of treys and now has multiple 3-pointers in consecutive games. He is 5-of-10 from downtown over his last three.
- Erik Dampier had a solid outing for Miami, scoring 3 points and grabbing 5 boards in 12 minutes.
- Joel Anthony played well for the 2nd straight game, and was rewarded with 22 minutes. He scored 6 points, collected 4 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.
- Big Z quietly had 4 points and 6 boards in 13 minutes.
Miami has gotten their week off to a good start, and will look to keep the ball rolling on Wednesday when the Detroit Pistons come to town.

Much better
now let’s put a series of these kinds of games together instead of going back to bad habits.

Haters gonna hate.
Was not able to watch it,
good right up. I liked reading, “Overall this was the focused, physical and hard-nosed game that Erik Spoelstra was hoping for out of his team.” There have been some games that overall I have not seen a lot of energy/urgency from the Heat, this quote is how the team needs to play—forget about the hype and how great everyone was telling you you were and were going to be (earn it Heat). Damp getting boards and the Heat having his physical presence is great—same with big Z. I like having to big centers. James getting to the line and making them, so, I guess that means he took it to the rim more this game which is a good sign. I like Joel’s intensity when in there. Jones hitting threes is great also. Go Heat! Beat the team formerly nicknamed the “Bad Boys”!
(Real) Havey Pekar: I felt more alone that week than any. Sometimes I'd feel a body lying next to me like an amputee feels a phantom limb. All I did was think about Jennie Gerhardt and Alice Quinn and all the decades of people I had known. The more I thought, the more I felt like crying. Life seemed so sweet and so sad, and so hard to let go of in the end. But hey, man, every day is a brand new deal, right? Just keep on working and something's bound to turn up."

Thank you and we will.

I would say worry about your own team,
but your whole thing is hating James—we all have our reasons for being here, Troll, but you should post over at FTS—I see you are a member—it is not trolling over there and you will get along fine with the commentators with your user name and opinions I’m sure.

This win means nothing. (Fuck all the haters)
Do that to a jazz, hornets, celtics, bucks, bulls, spurs, mavs, lakers and then we can brag.
Haters are loving this I know.
But they all lack a life.
Miami Thrice is incredible....Heat Tri-nasty is inevitable!
Exactly, mostly its just people pissed that they didn't get the player they wanted
So now they are going to nitpick over everything the Heat do, just so they can say “I told ya so!”
A nice win.
Was impressed from what I saw. Heat tried to dictate the flow of the game early. I do applaud the Wizards for trying to keep up with us for awhile. That dude, Dwyane Wade, just wow flirted with a triple double. Attacking the basket, finding the open players, and playing defense(all of his rebounds were defensive boards and had 4 of the team 6 steals. Hopefully our ‘Wade’ is back.

Could not watch the whole game, but I liked what I did see
The big 3 all played well, I liked what I saw out of Dampier and the fact that Chalmers got some minutes. Let’s not get carried away though. It is only one game.

Okay.
Check back and you’ll see I predicted a 10-8 start. I’m not a genius nor do I have ESP. But I have been watching basketball religiously for 44 years and the fact that this team is unlike ANY other before it meant (at least in my estimation) the adjustment period would be long and painful. However, the payoff will be NBA championships. To the haters and bandwagon jumpers (now jumping off): see you in June. And people, stop bashing Coach Spo. He knows more about the game than all of us on here combined. I know this for a fact as I have had many conversations with him dating back to 1997 (when he was but a video scout.) This guy knows his stuff. He is not the problem. The problem, or to be more accurate, the challenge is to completely reconfigure the standard model of how a championship-caliber team is built. No easy task for anyone.
1+3+6=how many rings???
Yes you are 1-7 against teams over .500
BUt does that really matter in April and May?
7 games remember. A Team must beat this HEat Squad 4 times out of 7.
I still find this very hard to do, when the Heat will be where they are at when playoffs roll around….
Orlando Pinstriped Post, Where lack of titles leads you to believe Nick Anderson(the free throw guy) should have his jersey retired.

Thankful for the Win! but
After a team meeting and a player coach meeting a team without their best player I would expect the Heat to open up a can. Its better then the alternative but hardly indicative of playoff much less championship basketball.

Well at least you can beat the bad teams…but that means a first round loss in the playoffs if you don’t improve. Imagine if the Heat played in the West..it would be much uglier.
We can only get better
