Heat release Jerry Stackhouse to make room for Erick Dampier

Nba_g_dampier_268_medium

The Sun-Sentinel is reporting that the Heat have waived (or in the process of waiving) Jerry Stackhouse to make room for Erick Dampier. Everyone knows that we need interior help badly and hopefully Dampier will add that. Hes above average in rebounding on both sides of the floor and will give the Heat a little more in a position were sorely lacking. Personally, im just happy were letting go of Stackhouse instead of Pittman. I know it leaves us a little thin on the perimiter, but i hate giving up on a young guy who never had a chance (I still am upset about De'Sean Butler, but thats another story).

This season has started off rockier than any of us could imagine, but to all the real Heat fans out there who have dealt with the 15 win season and many other dissapointments we just have to hold out hope that this will fix itself. Riley has always said this team is not a finished product by any means, and i have all the faith in the world in him. No one swings for the home-run more than he does. I have said numerous times that i dont believe this team will hit its stride until after the all-star break, and now with the injury to Haslem that is even more evident. Be patient Heat fans, thats all we can ask for. Lets not knee jerk like many in our fan base is known for.

Good to have another big, even if he is older,

he is still strong and will not get pushed around like Anthony—he is just not a center—has been against the bigger centers and also will help on the boards. Heat need to weather the storm by focusing on Defense/fast-break points (a page out of the Hornets early success minus last night) and things will get better later as players heal up. Go Heat! Beat the Magic!

And when I finally came in, Debbie was home from work, and I told her everything about my dinner with Andre."

Damp is soft as Charmin

While he looks tough he has never been a tough guy. Look at his rebounding avg,’s. This is sad. It is recationary and a clear sign we need to rethink this team. We needed a true star big and not our 7ft. small forward. Bosh was not the 3rd star. We needed a thug in the post. Big boo-boo. Oh well 6th seed here we come.

To love is to forgive!

Good move...

This will solidify our 4 and 5 (even with the injuries) because Anthony can now move to backup the 4 and not get pushed around so much while Damp and Z share duties at the 5 with some minutes going to Pittman.
The only other move that I think we need to make is resign Beverley at the 1 and move Arroyo. Arroyo is a waste of a roster position…LeBron is the primary ball handler and all we need at the one is specialists…
3pnt specialist: House
All-Around Specialist: Chalmers
Defensive Specialist: Beverley
Arroyo is not special!
As soon as Halsem and Miller return I would move Howard and resign Butler who may be ready to go after his knee issues!

Sorry

But Chamlers is not an “all round specialist”. He needs to be a DEFENSIVE specialist and keep opposing pgs from living in the Lane and he can’t do that. He’s a capable backup but that’s where his specialization ends.

Yikes

This move screams of desperation by Riley. Erica is horrible. His stats from last year make him look decent, but his game is far worse than you call tell from the box scores. If you have ever watched Damp play, you can’t be too excited about this move.

Great Move!

The Heat Desparatly need another center who can Defensive reb and play good interior defense. Z cannot play extended min. nor is playing defense+ def rebounding his forte and Joel is best suited for short stretches and Pittman is frankly just not ready yet. I like the move. Its not like the Heat can get any softer inside and if Udonis is infact out for the season I welcome the addition

Erica cant Defensive Rebound(4.5 per game, career) or play interior D

But he is a nice replacement for Haslem for the time being…

Okay?

I don’t think anyone has ever felt that dampier was the missing piece to a championship team and that probably won’t change here.

I always thought they would release Stackhouse and sign Butler once he was healthy.

Now, I am not sure, but I hope we can reacquire him next year
