Preseason Game #2: Oklahoma City Thunder (1-0) @ Miami Heat (1-0)

The Heat hit the road tonight for their first away game of the preseason.  Even though Miami is technically the home team, the game will be played in the neutral location of Kansas City, Missouri.  This will be another opportunity for the new look Heat to play together against someone other then themselves, and the Thunder should provide a nice challenge.

The guy in Oklahoma City who has been getting a ton of attention is Kevin Durant, the next best thing in the NBA (outside of Miami perhaps).  I feel like this guy has become the leagues darling baby since signing a 5-year $85 million extension, looking like the nice guy everyone wishes LeBron had been.

The Heat will miss out on facing former draft pick Daequan Cook who is out dealing with a concussion.  I hope he does well out there; maybe the change of scenery will do him some good.

Star-divide

GAME NOTES

  • Dwyane Wade and Da'Sean Butler are out for the Heat.
  • As for Oklahoma City, Thabo Sefolosha is questionable while Nick Collison, Nenad Kristic and Daequan Cook are all out.
  • Both teams are 1-0 in the preseason.
  • The Heat isn't ‘just' the Home team...since they get the honors the team is in charge of game operations.  I wonder if that's a pain in the butt when on the road.
  • Miami dropped both games against the Thunder last season.

Another preseason game, another Sun Sports broadcast.  The first game was watched by a ridiculous amount of people on Sun Sports, coming in at the highest rated preseason game ever, and the most watched Heat game since the 1998 Playoffs (Heat-Knicks 4/24/98).  Can you imagine what the numbers are going to look like when the games actually count?

Tipoff from the Sprint Center is set for 8:30.  Other then the local broadcast, the game will also be on NBA TV.

I dont think they get too much time

If Pittman progresses

he could wrestle some minutes away from Big Z, and put Magloire on the inactive list with Howard.

Most games this year are going to be blow outs

or at least half of them. I think the young guys will be getting the garbage minutes to help them gain experience.

Durant....

he’s pretty much the lock to win MVP this year.

No he is not

I can speak from personal experience. He cannot be the greatest.

Personal experience?

are you Kobe? and nobody said Lebron was the greatest, just that he was a better player than Durant. Which he is. In terms of overall game Lebron is better. Much better passer and defender. However, I do agree that Durant will win the MVP this season, and very soon after be the undisputed best player in the game.

MVP is not about who's better.

Its about value to one’s team. Lebron has a lesser role on the Heat than he did with the Cavs. That alone makes it near impossible for him to win MVP.

Will be an interesting game

I like watching the games with young talent and this one will be fun. Anthony Mason Jr got a ton of minutes on Tuesday that i didnt think he was going to get. I hope to see Chalmers put up another positive game and finally give us some CONSISTENCY.

Wait

The Heat didn’t top those ratings in the 2006 Finals? The 1998 Playoffs topped the 2006 Finals?

The numbers are for Sun Sports broadcast games…the Finals weren’t on there.

1998 Finals

were so high, they beat out the 1998 World Series, the only time more people watched basketball than baseball

Hmm

Durant may be a lock for season MVP but he is no finals MVP ala Dwayneeeeeee Wadeeeeeeeeeee!
The thunder have a young nucleus but they lack efficient scoring from the bench and length.
In a year or two I expect the thunder to meet Miami in the finals until then Durant would be on the same level as Iverson… All the individual accolades and no rings!
I say the heat win by 15 tonight…Let’s go heat!

Miami Thrice is incredible....Heat Tri-nasty is inevitable!
