Game #45: Miami Heat (23-21) vs. Toronto Raptors (23-22)

Much of the attention being paid to this game has to do with the Eastern Conference Playoff picture.  Right now, the Heat are in 5th place a half game ahead of Toronto and a full game ahead of Charlotte.  Who knows...at the end of the year Miami and Toronto might be tied, so it would be nice to have a season series victory against them (or any other team in the playoff mix).  Right now the Heat and Raptors have each won at home in this seasons series.

For those of you hoping to see Mario Chalmers less, maybe skip this part.  When asked about Carlos Arroyo getting more minutes, Coach Spoelstra defended Chalmers and chalked up his poor performance to what a good defensive team Cleveland is.  But seriously...when was the last time you can remember him having a good game?  This is the same 2nd year player who couldn't show up for noon practices on time.

Toronto has won 4 of their last 6 including a big home win over the Lakers on Sunday.  Chris Bosh is always awesome, and his numbers have reflected that all season.  A guy that the Raptors would love to get going is Hedo Turkoglu.  He is averaging just 8.4 points on 26% shooting over his last 8 games.  He did hit a pair of huge free throws to close out their win against Los Angeles.

Star-divide

GAME NOTES

  • D-Wade is averaging 34.2 points in his last 5 visits to Toronto.
  • Toronto has won 9 of their last 10 at the Air Canada Centre.
  • Raptors starting guard DeMar DeRozan is questionable for the game after spraining his right ankle during a team practice on Tuesday.
  • Daequan Cook is back practicing with the team but is officially listed as questionable and unlikely to play.
  • Chris Bosh has 32 double doubles this year, just one back of Dwight Howard for the league lead.  Sick.

Tipoff from the great white north is set for 7pm.  Lets hope for a 3-1 record in these next four games, which is what you should expect from the ‘good' Heat team.

They'll be just fine

They have been playing some good basketball as of late… even in the lost Monday. I have no worries about this game.

Tonight is going to be TOUGH.

No only have the Raptors have won 9 of their last 10 at home, and are coming off a huge win against the Lakers, they will also want revenge against the Heat, and have had 2 solid practices to prepare for them. I expect D Wade to have a HUGE game tonight but I also think it’s going to be a real tough game to get up there.

Agreed

3 close games in a row? I think its about time we see this Heat team play uninspired, as has been the pattern.

Egregious oversight

Unrelated but Beasley got snubbed from the rookie Sophmore challenge! That is horsecrap even if it doesn’t matter gamewise

I stand corrected

The ESPN article just forgot to list him. NBA.com has beasley there

That would’ve been seriously wrong. Beasley is one of the top players from last year’s draft, and rising.
