Free Agents

There are tons of free agents available that can help our team in many ways, but the management seems to think 2009 doesn't matter. I for one am very pissed off it looks like we are blowing off this season and just trying to fast track our team to 2010. It almost looks like we are NOT trying to compete purposely in order to have a high draft pick for the next draft, which would be even more leverage to land big name prospects in 2010. I don't know about you, but I hate to lose. It hurts my soul. Anything I can do to prevent it, I do. So when it comes to our 2009 squad, why are we not doing more to land the "bigger"-named guys in this Free Agent class.

Here are a few I think could help out our team a lot. What do you all think of these players?

Why is nobody pissed that we aren't going after RASHEEEEEEEEEEEEED!?!?!?! Yeah, I said it.

Just imagine this lineup being announced...

At PG, Suuuuuuuper Mario Chalmersss...At SG, Ddddddwayne Waaaade... At SF, Michael Beastttttttttttley...

At PF Rasheed Walllllllllllace... And At C, Jermaine OOOOOOOOOOOO'Neal! haha I like the sound of this.

Do I even need to say what Rasheed would bring to our team? Just about everything we lack (Front court help, rebounding, blocking, 3 pt shooters, and a veteran presence). Like Artest, nobody can argue he has a great basketball IQ, he just gets a little too fired up on the court sometimes, but I for one love that. I like people who leave it all on the court. Wade is one of those dudes. He always gives it his all.

Paul Millsap - I have a lot of manlove for this dude. He carried my fantasy team front court for a lot of the season. He is such a hustler and a great defender/rebounder. Not to mention, he had more than a couple double doubles so we can score pretty well (I think better than Haslem, especially deep inside the lane). Jermaine wouldn't have to work so hard on D, so with more energy, he would be able to contribute more on offense. Wade wouldn't have to lead the team in blocks again. I just love this Millsap dude.

David Lee - a solid PF. A definite upgrade at PF. He is a Knick so that is all I will say.

Hedo Turkoglu - He is a great shooter, especially from distance, and as you all know we don't have many 3 pt threats. At SF, he could be some damage. He would take a huge load off Wade's shoulders offensively. His defense is actually not too bad either. He made a lot of clutch blocks of Lebron in that Eastern Conference Final.

Honorable Mentions: Grant Hill, Antonio McDyess, Anderson Varejao, Ramon Sessions, Marcin Gortat

i agree. everybody saw what he did in the playoffs. i have a feeling riley is working behind the scenes on this one.

I think Miami is focused on developing it's young players right now,

and making sure they can re-sign Wade next summer, or this summer even, that and Miami is not likely to match most the offers these FA are getting from other teams since most of them are getting overpaid. Don’t feel too bad Miami isn’t the only team skipping ahead to 2010.

They 'should' wait until 2010

but Wade has said he’d like to see them try and win ‘now’. It puts Riley in a very tough spot.

Even if Miami signs a FA or two,

it doens’t make them a championship team, they would have to make way to many changes to the roster which I doubt Riley wants to do since everyone was new last year except Wade & Haslem and the team is still developing chemistry. So yeah, Riley is in a very tough spot but waiting until 2010 gives them the best chance to win.

I know, but we still picked up that contract.

we wouldn’t sign Bosh anyway so none of this matters.

Whatever we do we better do something soon

News today says Wade will stay only if the Heat are a contending title team. He says just making the playoffs wont cut it.

by Keebler on Jul 6, 2009 5:47 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Miami doing anything this season doesn't make them a contending team,

once everyone is off the cap next season we can make some deals but going after average players to get through to the second round of the playoffs this year instead of the first and making minimal improvements will only hurt the chances of improving in 2010 so it’s better to wait.

by Ariel112 on Jul 7, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed

Waiting until 2010 is what i would rather as well, but i guess im jumping the gun with losing Wade considering everyone in the Eastern Conference is improving their teams and were not.

Wade himself needs to chill,

I’m not sure why he’s putting so much pressure of Riley, literally almost everyone on the roster was new last year so I don’t know what he expects, this team has a lot of potential. I’m not worried about Shaq, all of Boston is old so they’re done if any of them gets injured, Orlando has half a roster filled out and no money to spend, and if Detroit thinks its going to win with pure offense they should think again.

by Ariel112 on Jul 9, 2009 7:59 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah i saw that too. i say we get lee, he’s a beast.

by Shaffi3 on Jul 6, 2009 7:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Does Lee's contract go past 2010?

If so were not going to get him.
Also, Were so close to the salary cap already with all these horrible contracts on our roster that were going to go into the luxury tax if we sign anyone for more than the mid level exception i believe. I just cant wait for this year to be over so we can unload all this cash and have it available to us finally.

by Keebler on Jul 7, 2009 9:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah i know. i hope iversons willing to take a mid level contract. we’d have one of the best backcourts in the NBA with him and wade (even though he’s not what he used to be)
